The 9mm 445nm are the big brother of the M140 and I use them for my high power build for some time now. I haven't mention in the first post but you can be asure the 2.2+W lasers have the 9mm diode and copper heatsinks.

BOOOOO No fun! I almost brought my laser from you on my last cruise but I just recieved it like a week prior to going so didnt want to risk port customs taking it away. once on the ship id have been fine since i had a balcony

now that i can build lasers i can take them apart for bringing on the ship or hey, i can even build one once on board, just bring the parts

Would it be possible to run this laser with CR123a batteries instead?? Or would it be possible to get one that could use them?

3 Watt is a little too high. The diode and the driver need to push so hard that it is critical in the 501B host. And if it succeeds then the duty cycle will be so low that there is no fun using the laser.
