Fog machines?

If you dont want to buy a fog machine, buy some hair spray. It stays in the air for a long time, and beams look amazing.

Dont ask, I use my moms :p

I got fed up with the cheep fog machines mine would always break once it was the heat exchanger the next was the temperature thing on the heat exchanger.... i shorted that out and man it was putting out the fog and then it dided i think that thing had a risitor in it or somting but if you really want fog spend the extra 40$ and buy some quality
Amazon.com: American Dj Fog Storm 700 - 700 Watt Fog Machine with Remote: Musical Instruments
That thing is a beast and hasn’t let me down and for fluid use this
Amazon.com: Froggys Swamp Fog Juice Worlds Greatest Fog Fluid - Gallon: Musical Instruments
Easily 5x the fog from the same machine that I used target or Wal-Mart fog in plus this stuff last in the air for hours so you use allot less of it.... Went from using 1/2 a quart for a 2 hour show to using 1/6th a quart for that same show it was that much better

This is the one I have.......

The first time I used it, got carried away, I had to raise windows and open doors.:D

f22Warzone:
That thing you shorted out was the thermostat lol. shorting this out would result in the heating element getting hotter and hotter until it burns out also, from what i have read, if the heat exchanger gets too hot, it can break down the fog fluid and start pumpin out toxic fumes... always a nice thought :D.

mine is only a cheap one :-/. i paid £40 (inc 5 litres of fluid).

Better yet just burn some insense it smells a whole lot better and you don't have to plug it in or pour some kind of liquid crap into it, JUST LIGHT IT ! :eg:

I havent fog machine(I cant find one in Greece) but I use smoke from black powder or from the fireplace of the house...
it works nice but not for a laser...
anybody knows how I can make one without dry ice?

There are fog machines that will fit in your pocket but are very expenive , they produce alot of fog and a run from a battery :)

I got a fog machine, (500W) from Bed, Bath & Beyond. It was ~$25 shipped, and does fine for me. Without it , (and btw, I have tried incense), this pic would not be so good:

I am working on a atomizer setup for illluminating my beams. However given that it evaporates so quickly, it's not going to be as good as a smoke machine.

Ironlaser555: i have already seen these battery operated smoke machines for sale for £400!!! expensive is a bad word and i think it should be removed from the dictionary, i like cheap... cheap is good lol. which is why i want to build one myself :-P.

Scopeguy20: WOW, thats a nice bit of kit you have there :-). im still new to lasers, signed up to LPF a few days ago.

modeoner: there are websites detailing how to make fog fluid just google: "homemade fog juice". as for making the smoke machine... depends how far you want to go... heating up a metal plate and dumping juice on it, or, a electronic temperature controlled Heat Exchanger etc...

i purchased a 400W 230V heat exchanger off ebay for about £3. took it apart and wound my own temp element for testing. custom element consumes 5A @ 6V so 30W.
gets hot enough to boil water and steam is forced out the other end of the exchanger but it isnt hot enough to prevent "almost" boiled water from spurting out aswell.
think im gonna aim for roughly 6A @ 12V 70-80W and see how it goes :-D. much cheaper than spending hundreds of £ on a factory made battery operated smoke machine!
