Finding a Laser

For 532nm lasers I would suggest laserBTB.com. The have one of the best reps around here from all of the group buys that have been organized and they are consistently very good lasers for very reasonable prices. I got a 340mW from them and could not be happier.

I do however suggest you investigate 445nm lasers more. Just last night while on Bastendorf beach I was messing with a 2W 445nm and a guy walked up with a 100mW 532nm and said he was several miles away and saw it and had to come see what it was from since it made his look so small.

While I believe whole-hearted that members of this website will build better lasers than what I could get from a company, due to my very limited knowledge on lasers I can't for the life of me find what I'm after. "Warnlaser" was very clear in the pricing and browsing the website but I'm told they're not a recommended website, whereas "laserbtb" is confusing as fuck, and I've yet to find anything I'm after. I would strongly consider buying from a member of this site, except I can't seem to find any that make the 150mW+ Green laser that I'm after. Anyone know of someone specifically I can message?

Nobody really makes greens and the main reason is they aren't really very practical due to the technology used. However, there is a new 520nm (called PL520)diode that came out recently that is capable of about 100-130mW. Thing is these diodes are very expensive so they would be much more expensive than they would be from a site like laserBTB would be if you wanted a custom build.

This is pretty much the best 532nm laser for its price and output that I have seen:
HL 532nm 50-300

If you want something a little more beefy check this out:
PL 532nm 100-700

This one runs on the new PL520 diode but hey don't tend to push them as hard as we do:

Oh wow, those prices are great in comparison to many of the green lasers I've been looking at with that type of mW. Think the 'Handheld 150mW (FDA)' would be a good first laser, or would you recommend I go up or down in mW? All of those mW are in my price range, so whatever of them you recommend (The 100mW -> 300mW), I'll likely choose. Also, this is going to be my "Show" laser, basically. I also plan to purchase a "Burn" laser, which I'll likely go to you for. ;)

Sounds good haha. For output, the higher you go the more spectacular it will be but also the more you have to be careful with it because it will be more dangerous. Its up to you though.

if laserbtb is confusing to you then you should not buy a laser. laserbtb is a SUPER straight forward and easy site to navigate. as said previously, it doesnt make sense for members to build 532nm lasers since they are expensive to get a hold of a quality 532nm DPSS module and you can get them cheaper for a complete build.

for safety glasses please go to the yellow link in my sig. has a list of approved and tested glasses as well as a price breakdown of them. there is also a trusted member and company section there so you can browse other sites that sell quality lasers

You're simpleminded if you think because something is simple for you, it can't be confusing to another. Being new to the world of lasers, those numbers and letters didn't mean a thing to me and I had no idea what each laser actually was, making the site difficult to browse.

To everyone I've been keeping updated, I'm currently waiting for a 300mW HL 532nm laser to arrive in the mail, as well as some safety glasses. I'm excited about it. x)

Also, an additional question. How difficult are lasers to put together? Do you just order each individual part, and put it together 1 piece at a time like a puzzle, or will it require tools such as soldering irons?

well basically ..DIY: How To Build A 1W Burning Blue Laser Torch! - YouTube

but greens will be harder to make . thus why no one here sells them

Got'cha, appreciate the link. ^_^

yes i love laserbtb at thoses prices you can a high power laser for great prices wicked lasers is really overpriced and laserbtb is trusted the HL is good i recently got the HL 445nm 1000mW and its quite the burner well it would its 1 W but if you want a green one get the 532nm obviously btw any class 3B laser especialy green require safty glasses because the human eye sees green better than any other color and you cant just be carfull the dot close up can do temporary damage to your eye its that purple carp you see when you look at the sun quickly and blink but the the HL cost less than the PL same safty but the PL has bigger heatsink so a longer Duty Cycle and from what ive heard a longer batery life. But in all laserbtb is great <----

Edit: ive delt with WL and i got the Nano its not 100mW i can tell i cant burn anything without a magnifying glass and for the same price you can get a 100mW green HL from laserbtb

Oh yeah, actually, what is the average battery life before needing a charge on the HL (VS) PL, if you know?

Also laserbtb is underspeced so most of the time the mW is higher than what it says

Edit im not sure i just got it yesterday really and today i had to go to a family party so i have not used it much yet when i said recently im mean REALLY RECENTLY

It'd be much appreciated if you throw me a whisper when you get the battery life on it. :thanks:

but it also depends on the charge and the quality of the baterys you got you cant buy them from stop and shop you can get them at a hobby shop or the internet
and i have a 1000mW 445nm and you ordered a 300mW green the batery life will vary
