I love Google translator

Part of one of my classes is exposing Non-English speakers to idiomatic expressions. It is sometimes quite funny. Sometimes, when I am truly bored, I will translate idiomatic expressions just to see how they come out.

But what other language other than English do you know? Or do you just translate them to any language and then back to English? I ask because the fun can vary from language to language. Translating to Catalan, for instance, is even worse. English-Spanish is much better than many others :)

I'm only fluent in English. I used to be passable in Spanish, but I don't use it. I could survive, but not easily.

I translate the expressions to random languages.

I do not believe in "bad" language.

Language is a tool to be used.

The user may have bad intentions, but the language just is.

Then I guess when Bruce Willis in The Fifth Element said "I only speak 2 languages ... English and Bad English" you were all like ... Heh no such thing as a bad language Mr. Bruce Willis :D
