Uhm, i don't know, but, knowing the stupidity of some of the piercing-maniacs around, i may not be too much surprised, if it was real ..... after all, i have seen much worse ones (and can't post the most part of them here, cause some are really bad ones :barf:

EDIT: anyway, if they are real, they are probably low-thickness "makeup" inserts, not real plugs

I don't think the technology is good enough yet but I wouldn't be against getting cochlear implants at some point in the future.
It would really suck if the plugin wore out though :na:

LOL, no, i mean that those are probably just "makeup" piercing items, not real implants ..... they just look as plugs.

Well, bionics already made some real progress, but not at the point to get a coclear working implant ..... yet (but, if someone is crazy enough, technically is already possible to realize "integrated" working earphones and microphones, with piezoceramics resonators and osteo-conductive vibration microphones ..... but one must be crazy, for ask for something similar ..... i mean, what in case of malfunctions ? ..... "hello, surgery department ? ..... can you change my left earphone ? .... it's making strange noises ....." :crackup.

Exactly, and apparently there isn't much bass in the ones that DO exist.
Sometimes being on the cutting edge of technology isn't a good thing.
It would really suck if you drop your ipod and it yanks on the plug too....

Oops! I totally just forgot about my cochlear implant and went swimming. Next time I will have to wait for the waterproof version.....
