My objection (whining in the view of some) to smoking in public isn't due to being worried about cancer or health reasons, it can send me coughing, I need to hold my breath around it.

I also dislike the smell of cigarette smoke and it is an irritant.

It is not a valid argument that because your truck has a lot of dents in it that my throwing rocks at it is no big deal as it's already dented, it's still your truck and I have no right to damage it further, regardless of how banged up it already is or will be anyway.

Like I said before, there are none worse than exsmokers. They tolerated it for years. Enjoyed it, even. But now, it is the worst thing on the planet. Unbelievable.

But paul, was it not you who said the government protects us, they take care that our water is safe, and our food is clean from toxins, after all the government is only protecting people from 2nd hand smoke.

Really they should tax the hell out of nicotine lollypops and outlaw the burning of tobacco for inhalation purposes, it would be for the wellbeing of everyone.

It's ironic the way you want government to " protect " us, until it's something you want.

Don't you know nicotine is a drug ?

It should require a prescription to buy nicotine.

( 2016 ) The Obama administration has issued a sweeping final rule banning smoking in all public housing units nationwide, extending a smoke-free environment to nearly a million units. Violators will be evicted.

Just listen to your hero

I smoked a whole pack of cigs one after the other when I was 14, probably the best thing I ever did, never wanted to touch them again after getting sick from that.

I don't think government should ban smoking in " public places " because they are not just talking about the post office and the court house which are public, but also restaurants and shopping centers which should be the choice of the market place, if 80% of customers don't like it then business owners will forbid it on their property, and restaurants will have a smoking section.

It's not the place of government to tell us what to do when tobacco is legal, either outlaw the burning of tobacco for inhalation or don't, either change the Constitution or don't, but playing God Lord and Master is not their job.

My point is the loss of freedom will affect everyone, smoking bans are part of the socialism paul wanted, enjoy it, this is the progressive agenda.

People in public housing are being told they can not smoke in their own homes or outside on the property or they will get evicted, progressive enough for you?

Yea, if I go to an establishment and the smoke is too much for me, I just won't go there again. Same with music, I love steaks, but if a stake house has their country music blasting, I won't even come in, I turn around at the door.

I don't have a problem with banning smoking in buildings. I have been very up front about that. My point is outside it is less of a toxin that what people in cities breath everyday. And my point is valid. Exsmokers are the worst of the worst. They did it for years, Enjoyed it up until they quit. Then it became the most awful thing on the planet. And thanks to you, my point is made. ;)

Nope, even your hero Barry knows how dangerous 2nd hand smoke is, but you made me laugh. Hypocrite as usual, I'm not really surprised that you support banning people from smoking in their own public housing units, if it was you that would be different, like a democrat you will say anything to get what you want and ignore everything else.

BTW Global warming is a myth, GO TRUMP :D

I'm just a little miffed at the combat attitude I get from the smokers are are unhappy about having to smoke outside, and purposely doing it right at the door when there is no wind. In Alaska, our city air is clean, here in Doha where I work I can't smell exhause fumes or other industrial smog in the air, doubtlessly there is though.

Nicotine addiction is said to be much like a heroin addiction, smokers get defensive about their habit, they are terrified of having to quit and will make any excuse and even believe their own hyperbole, maybe they can't smell how strong the smoke is, but we can, and it's a lot stronger than any diesel smoke or other absent smells.

Global warming is a myth.

Nicotine is a plant derivative. It has been made into a drug by extraction and ionization into a salt.

Nicotine Junkie.

Your progressive agenda is making you wait to smoke and you can't stand it.

Hey....maybe it's Trumps fault.

Nicotine is a potent parasympathomimetic stimulant and an alkaloid found in the nightshade family of plants. Nicotine acts as an agonist at most nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs),[4][5] except at two nicotinic receptor subunits (nAChRα9 and nAChRα10) where it acts as a receptor antagonist.[4] Nicotine is found in the leaves of Nicotiana rustica, in concentrations of 2–14%; in the tobacco plant, Nicotiana tabacum; in Duboisia hopwoodii; and in Asclepias syriaca

Yep, you can argue about the technical definition of " DRUG " but you are addicted.

Getting colder in Alaska and Antarctica in the winters lately, but warmer other places on the planet, on average, I understand. When living in Alaska I was for warmer winters, but if this continues too long, bye bye low lands.

The Earth goes through natural warming and cooling cycles and just 1 mount Pinatubo eruption puts more hydrocarbons into the air than all of human history.

Some scientist agree and others disagree, I think it's the tobacco ;)
