I was reading about to buy a laser and stumbled upon this

"Important FDA Warning for all >5mW Lasers: FDA advices all customers that these lasers may be purchased only if you are NOT a citizen of the United States and you are NOT currently living in the United States."

You didn't know about that :-?. its been there for a while now.

I've ordered after the warning was up. just shipped it alone, added drop shipping, did not do express shipping and it made it to the us. can't guarantee yours will make it past customs. on dx's site someone asked about it and the staff said it was a friendly reminder, but they will try to ship them to you if you want.

I had my fingers crossed about the warning also,
but I finally received mine today!
It took 3 weeks because it was on back order,
they must have some demand - popularity!

It might be useful to have a sticky thread (maybe a poll?) where DX successes and failures (with respect to the US warnings) are recorded... I've been hesitant to buy stuff from DX, since I don't want to be buying nice Christmas presents for customs agents.

Just because they now have a notice doesn't mean anything has changed. Those laws have been in place for decades and they probably just put it up to cover their butts. I really don't expect anyone at DX to be checking the destination of ther lasers, nor the folks at customs keeping their "eyes out" for DX shipments.

To be honest, I have never once read of a single account of any laser, or any product for that matter, purchased from DX being confiscated by US customs.

I have read a couple stories on here from a while back where people did got DX lasers confiscated by US customs, but those were shipped EMS express.

Sure Electronics IIRC. He had it shipped with EMS.

This kind of worries me a little. I shipped with Airmail USA from NOVA just this Sunday and I live in Florida. Does anyone think it will interfere with my order?  :-/

EDIT: I just read on Novalasers Policies that "NOVAlasers guarantees that our products can be delivered to your location, if we have accepted your order. We guarantee that packages will not be seized by customs or we will send out a replacement package."

But I am sure most of you knew that already. Phew, that's a load off my chest.  ;D

Well . . . my first order from DX was the 200mW green pen style laser and guess what ? Customs got it in CA. and that was sometime last year. I received paperwork if I wanted to claim the item and pay some fees and the court costs. I never responded.
