DX 200mW Module for USA?






The only real problem with DX is that they are simply a re-shipper. They don't actually QC anything themselves. You are relying on the original distributor to do any testing of the unit. Green modules are VERY erratic. Just because "Joe" got a 200mW module does NOT mean that "Fred" will get a 200mW module. It is the luck of the draw.

They rely on people not knowing nor being able to test the output to stay in business.

"This one looks brighter than my friend's 75mW pointer", means NOTHING!

Being able to light a match or burn any particular material means NOTHING!

However, the VAST majority of their customers measure the "output" of their lasers in just these ways.

Now at the price they are selling it, you may want to take the chance. If all you get is 100mW it is still a good deal.

wow it looks just like the 5mw one i took apart it has the same large resister too
 
Yeah! Heath Just wait on that... I would put down the dough on the 200mW 405nm from KD.:)

That is a good find keep diggen my man your commin up w/ some real daisys

You wouldn't, but if you look at all the green laser modules (of different supposed output powers) that DX offers, you'll see that they all state that they use 250mA. DX frequently just copy-pastes descriptions for similar products.
 
I just got my DX 200mW module, and held some wires on a battery to test it. I didn't want to run it long without having it in a host with a heatsink, but it reads about 170-175mW (unknown amount of IR, I don't have an IR filter laying around to test it through.) Here's the graph.
