DTR another questions regarding your builds, do you use "focus to infinity" for your builds? some of the beam shots are just amazing and beam is super thin and dot is very tiny. I know you mentioned you use camera exposure setting as well, but i am wondering about the focus to infinity, if you use it or not. Please give me example of a build in which you use focus to infinity.

THanks DTR, I am new to building laser, so i am trying to absorb as much info as possible from all the experts here.

PS: its been a week i have spent at least 6hs a day on this site researching and reading threads after threads for information

I think it was lazeerer who said g1/g2 lenses are better for high powered builds because there is less reflection(I think) back to the actual diode itself than with a 3 element glass, therefore reducing degradation/harm to the diode

IIRC- don't quote me on it

I'll back you up on that JakeGT, I've also read that somewhere (can't remember who or where). IIRC, it was to do with less heat build up using g1/g2.

Hey DTR i am really interested in your diodes! i want to build a blue laser i have a general idea of how. but i was wondering what blue diode of yours do u think i would enjoy burning with the most?

You'll enjoy burning with his violet 405nm X12 diode It's the best.

Yep the 405 is the way to go if burning is what you want.

Make sure you grab some safety glasses.:beer:

They can be found in blue ray disc burners with a BD write speed of 12X. Yep here is my shop.

Any chance they might ever do a 16x or higher burn rates? Or is it a dead end technology?
