Does the dx True Green Laser 30mw have a IR filter

I have just bought a True Green Laser Pen off DX and some people have been saying that it doesn't have an IR filter and some people say it does. Could someone PLEASE tell me because at the moment I am confused whether or not it does

If you bought the "true" laser it should have an IR filter. Dx only says they don't so people don't sue them if freak laser goes out without an ir filter.

Mine doesn't.I have only my webcam to test it.But even when shone at through a coke glass(clear glass full of coke) it completely flashblinds the webcam.Now that is many many times brighter than a TV remote LED appears on the same webcam.And for a 30mW greenie I should say that that is a lot of IR.So I concluded that it doesn't have one. It's a good laser though, TEM00, 1-1.5mm beam diameter, and estimated 1.5mRad.The IR can't be more than 10-15mW, and combined with 30mW of bright green , I'm not worrying about getting hit in the eyes.

My DX30 has an IR filter, but recently people have said that some of them being sent out don't have IR filters.

see if you have a camera that can see IR fairly easily (test with a TV remote), then shine the laser through something that blocks green but passes IR and check on the camera

here is a pic of my DX true 5, it has a very good IR filter, the dot isn't even white

You can test it by folding up a few pieces of film negative, put it on the front of the laser, and point the laser in to a webcam/digital camera. If you see light on the webcam, the laser isn't IR filtered, the film negative blocks the visible light but lets the IR light through.

if your camera has a nighvision mode then yes, otherwise no

I compared the IR of a 30mW "true" laser, and a 30mW Rominsen laser, and they appeared about the same. Both were, of course, more than the Newwish 5mW laser I've got as well. However, in the end, I don't consider these things IR filtered anyway. If it were properly filtered, it would have the kind of output my 80mW CNI laser has: practically nothing. Even my 5mW one has like 10x or more times the IR of the 80mW laser.

That being said, if the IR output of these lasers is less than the 532nm output, I don't think there's much to be afraid of, because the danger with IR is that we can't see it, and therefore can't react to it. However, with bright green light coming out of the laser, our eyes will react to the beam.
