DIY: How to build a ~100mW Violet Laser

Thank you for posting this "fool proof" guide  ;)  I know virtually nothing about electronics, but am very mechanically inclined, and feel confident that i could follow this guide without too much difficulty.

I am in a similar position. I have limited experience with electronics and this step seems like a crucial prerequisite for DIY lasers. I think this is a great guide/video.

Personally I never break off the NC pin. I like to leave it in place then solder it to the unused pads on the reverse side of the rkcstr driver, gives it a lot more stability. As an added bonus, if ever one of your pins breaks, you can just put a dab of solder on the stub, grounding it to the case, then use the NC pin instead! (Note that if it was the positive pin that broke and your aixiz module is connected to the body of the host, which is connected to negative, bad things will happen. This only works if your aixiz module is isolated from the batteries or the negative pin breaks off.)

here i have a noobish question, would the diode produce 100 MW if the driver is 100mw (like this one in the post) no matter how many mw is the diode or it would produce more with a "stronger" diode? i mean any diode would produce 1000mw with a proper driver but only the good ones would handle it with out braking right?

Im not sure if a tutorial like this has been posted on here yet, so here it is. Ive seen the tutorials for building them inside of flashlights, but this is just the step by step, easy to follow instructional tutorial for building a 100mw+ violet laser for pretty cheap. This tutorial was created by styropyro, and once my 803t gets here im going to follow it to build my own.

.

Can you tell me what type of power suppply do you use? thanks

I have 3 motorcycles. I used the tool to change the chain drive on the motorcycles, to press fit the diode into the axis module. Works perfect every time, and it is much easier to use then a vice.

Notice this thread is from 2008 ... there are much more recent examples of this floating around on the forum, a little searching will find them. If you don't know how to add a switch then a laser probably isn't for you.

Ha, that's like saying, "If you fail the first time, skydiving isn't your thing." Just because I'm new at this, doesn't mean it's not my thing.
