I heard they were so tasty they were 'flying' off the shelf--

FYI my friend said you must allow PC power supplies extra time for all the grease solvent to evaporate- he discovered that when he powered it up and smoked it..
the other stuff- a fan- the mother board etc was super clean and ready to re-install at once,,
 





I just wanna know what they did to turn the bugs into a dough... Crush and mush?
 
It looks like that's all there is to it, just squish them together; no muss no fuss.
It probably doesn't hurt that most of them are full of that special "type O" protein! :crackup:

Third world countries have been eating very low cost protein for awhile. Ants, crickets, grasshoppers, worms and so on. It is a cost effective alternative to beef plus the impact is much lower on the environment.
 
i've tried those cuisines before..... so far i ate Snake,Grass Hopper( they are crunchy), Larvae, Crocodile, kangaroos,....
 
There's a lot of infectious disease around the dirtier parts of the world too, I like my food well done.
 
I had a Korean friend for several years until we moved too far apart in different directions. He once had me eating silkworm pupae, you buy it canned in oriental food stores, Google it and look at the images if you dare. I have eaten escargot several times before. Raw cuttlefish is no good I don't recommend you try it, raw octopus is ok if you have the right sauce to dip it in, some other kinds of raw fish are good. Seaweed is very good, fresh or dried, I don't know why Americans don't eat it.

In my middle school, there was a Mandarin program that many schools didn't offer, so there were tons of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, viet, etc. kids at my school. Paired with me being in the advanced placement program, and I was just about the only white kid in any of my classes. Anyways, dried seaweed was practically currency back then, we dealt that crap around like playing cards. I didn't like the taste too much, it left my breath smelling too fishy afterwards, but I could use it to trade up to better snacks and stuff at lunch. Oh, good times.
 
Oysters on the half shell, love em, sushi YES, alligator is a little chewy, goose pate I would never eat it, I'm not an animal rights person but that's not cool.

As for other parts of the world there is an infectious disease travel warning and some of it is bad, I'm not talking about S.Korea or Germany, their hospitals are cleaner than ours and infant mortality lower, but if you travel to El Salvador then eating raw food can get you Typhoid and other places are worse.

Tried all kinds of bugs while I was in chiang mai, only drew the line at cockroaches. Scorpions are overrated imo, but for the most part they aren't that bad. Silkworms... bleh. Some were pleasantly crunchy though.

I'm especially a fan of calamari, sushi, octopus, etc,. Also have a tendency to destroy oysters... can never have enough of them.

While traveling I tend to stick to well cooked through foods... there are quite a few bugs out there, thought odds are low, still not worth the risk of even a bad upset stomach. 4 weeks in thailand for example, I only had one case of food poisoning. Still not and experience you ever want to have.
 
Like a nice seaweed salad from time to time. Can't go wrong with most sushi either, Unagi is often a good choice. I'll second Infinitus on the calamari too!

Haven't tried any bugs, though I imagine some of them have quite a pleasant texture.

Ostrich is nice, still need to try beaver and bear.

Beaver is nothing special. Never tried bear or ostrich... would be interesting.

I wish there were a restaurant that offered that kind of a sample, just 5-10 different exotic meats in small portions to try, out of a menu of a hundred or so.

Edit: Actually it wasn't beaver, it was this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coypu So guess I need to try beaver too.

Well... now I'm in a mood for some meat.

I've heard you need to take it easy with beaver as it is so fatty, eating too much will quickly lead to an upset stomach.

Bear apparently gives you nightmares, but I can't confirm that one.

I like that idea, there is a bunch of different meats I'd love to try!

Seconded, but I think I'm just generally hungry at the moment...
 
I've always felt it was a shame dogs were domesticated instead of bears.
