Dear Dr. Lava,

I am starting to hate you.

Just kidding. But all joking aside, when are you planning on restocking your flexdrives dude? You're killing me here :(

I'm yet to encounter a host that can't be built without a flexdrive ;)

Well, can you suggest another boost driver that can run my sanyo 638nm with 2 NiMh batteries?

This is one of those times that making a similar product
may be acceptable...

If a member offers a product and other members start to
use and depend on that product... but the member supplying
the said (required) product can not reliably supply it then it
should be OK for others to produce a similar product and offer
it....IMO

It seems that these Drivers are always on the no stock list...
If the supplier has a problem with production (it does happen)
then it seems that he should at least address the queries of
his customers or potential customers....

Those sanyos run at around 2.2 volt, you don't need a boost driver for that particular diode,
a greenie IR pump diode driver works like a charm, even the pinout is the same.:)

He wants to use 2x nimh cells. That's just 2.4V.

He could use a buck, but not a linear. At best, linears seem to still drop 1.25 V

Sounds to me like all he needs is a current limiting resistor if the diode requires 2.2 volts and the power supplied is 2.4 volts

I think "csshih" here on this forum is working on a driver similar to the flexdrive. I heard mention of it ...

Good. I honestly feel Dr. Lava needs to keep his loyal customers in the loop with these drivers...

Yeah I've been lamenting this too.

Hopefully some new driver concepts will get spawned and offered. The competition would be healthy. :D

There are enough people on this board familiar with pcb design that this shouldn't be too monumental a task. An appropriate IC might be the logical starting point. Does anyone know what the flex, odicforce boosts, NJG18, etc drivers use?

Maybe this is an opportunity to develope a more capable (higher current) boost alternative.

Yes if we can't get flexdrives then we need a very similar alternative.
