Crowd-Source: Can anyone find a source for the new 1W Mitsubishi 635nm?

Will this be the new 445nm? I sure hope so. 500mW of 638nm would be very impressive.

Well a google search for the part number says they're destined for pico projectors.. So you've just narrowed down your search criteria heh. It looks like they started shipping in november of last year so they should likely already be on the market. My question is what the beam specs are like. I have yet to find a datasheet.

I get the feeling that over the next few year.. providing we can avoid draconian legislation banning lasers all together.. that there will be a LOT of pico projectors torn apart. :D

Thanks rhd and piferal for posting that. Very interesting! It seems like this one might find a better chance of getting into our hands than some of the other high powered diodes that have been recently discussed.

Yeah they won't be as cheap, or as powerful as the current 445's but I imagine within the next year or so decent power RGB diode sets with decent beam specs will be able to be had for a few hundred dollars due to the pico projectors.

This wont have nearly the effect that the kaseo had- big diff between 24 diodes Vs one- so several hundred $$ on a Pico for the diodes- may be a better deal but nothing like what we experienced with the 445s.

now if they sell replacement diodes - that would be the way to go IMO

Compared to the going cost of a 1W 632, several hundred would be peanuts.

It looks like Glyn in Germany is a distributor for the Mitsu ML501P73 as well as 12 other Mitsu laser diodes from 638nm to 830nm. (if you want a shipping container full)

Glyn - Laser Dioden

Glyn - Laser Dioden

Does anyone have any sort of working relationship with Glyn such that we could get a quote on say 10x ?

I'm sure that between LPF and PL, we could cobble together 10 ppl willing to pay a bit of cash for this diode.

Did anyone else see that 8W, 639nm laser diode on Glyn's page?

For reference, "Glyns Page";

Wellenlänge / Serie / Leistung Po (CW/Pulse) / Bemerkung
639nm / ML5CP50 / 8W / Laser Barren

I don't read or speak German. Used some web translation.
"Bemerkung" is apparantly "comment", "Laser Barren" is apparantly "Laser Bar"(?) (as opposed to "Laser Module for Faserkopplung"? (Faserkopplung = "fiber tie-in")

Note that the series ML5CP50 is *NOT* denoted as "NEW".

I've been watching this thread, I am interested.

I don't speak German that much but read and hear it better. I'll probably be watching the Valencia F1 grand prix live, free and online in German in a few hours.

Look, I gave you a distributor for the Mitsu LD. I wrote a step-by-step alternative to the crappy kipkay red laser phony hack temporary laser joke and provided a real red laser alternative for the MiniMag. What does it take for for some respect here?

The 8W red is in development and Gylns looking for front money for the first deliveries. Makes sense, doesn't it?

signed, Mr. 1 point of respect.

Thanks for providing the link yzer. I've contacted them for pricing and availability info.
