Cool Knife.

Here's a quick pic of some of my auto knives...
Nice collection you got there :beer:Based on the fact that all are double-edge blades, I take it your like an [ex]Mercenary / [ex]highly-paid Assassin for hire... . Or maybe not. :undecided:

;););)

*EDIT*
...a PIRANHA PIR6 BODYGUARD; it is a side opener ... The next one is a MicroTech Trooden D/E Satin Plain...
That Piranha's definitely not me cup o' tea, but that Troodon... wow, sweet! I would much rather have the smooth handle over the newer, ridged? handles. That's one of the reasons I'm not too keen on the Scarab. Funtionality-wise, the handle must be great, but the grip inlays... way too industrial-looking, imho. It looks like something you might find in the local Hardware store...

The more I think about it, the more I'd rather have a Lightfoot L.C.C. or similar. Actually, his current knives are all awesome-looking, my favorite being the Max Velocity :D Alas, I'm really aiming for a D/A, so I'm back to the L.C.C. D/A. Or maybe a Pro-Tech Defiance, but I'll need to see it up close as the images don't really make it "pop"... .

Wow that's a sweet looking swiss army knive. Even though the paint on the blade looks for me a little too much like fake japanese steel structure :D ... or is that real??

Edit: Oops I didn't say anything just saw on the website that's swedish damast steel  very nice indeed!

Yes it is & here's mine :)

The blade is ultra sweet...

Turns out the knife's a collaboration between Victorinox and A Swiss knife maker known as "Swiss Bianco".

Personally, I think that Benchmade is a very prestigious company, and they make alot of high quality, long lasting knives...

...Benchmade definitely make some good knives ... I carried a 3550 Mel Pardue Auto...

Well I already expressed my admiration for Microtech (both their OTFs and legendary L.C.C. D/A), but seeing as I live in Vienna, "common" brands like Benchmades aren't exactly sold on every corner here. But one of our more "serious" stores had just attended the 2010 Blade show and brought back a few goodies, including Mictrotech OTFs and a few Benchmades too.

Needless to say, the MT OTFs blew me away; the power those puppies have must be seen (felt) in person to be truly appreciated!!! I got handed a Combat Troodon and almost had a heart attack when I fired the blade... :wtf: Even the UT impressed and yeah, I even got to try a Navy Seals edition Scarab... So I'm definitely going to "go to town" when I visit the States next month :san:

But the other real surprise can be summed up in three words, Benchmade Axis Lock...! A knife with an Axis lock in the proper hands might as well be an Auto... If you own one, you know what I'm talking about & if you don't check out one of Benchmade's videos of an Axis-equipped knife!

After messing around with a basic Griptilian (Mel Pardue design), I took home one with a CPM-M4 blade & carbon fiber grips...

That's my thing, folders with unique mechanics, be it D/As, Benchmade Axis, or Mt's one of a kind OTFs. I tried a few "standard" autos... boooring. Spring-assisted setups were interesting, so was the "auto-Axis" but for now, manual will serve my needs well enough ;)

Well I'm back ...say hello to my [new] little friend...

Very nice! How much?

Very nice! How much?
It's without a doubt my favorite folder! (thanks to you and your tip, I should add :thanks:)

I got it for $375, but I picked it up in person, so no shipping fees, etc. :) I also picked up a Troodon (bead-blasted Wharncliffe) but tbh, I haven't really even looked at it much as most of my attention is on the L.C.C. atm ;)

I also picked up a few Benchmades (incl. a 552, the Doug Ritter version of the 551 Griptilian) as I love the Axis mechanism almost as much as the D/A concept

Nice price, my most recent was a generation 1, and I got it for $400 minus $32 in Bing Cashback. Is it a generation 4? It has the same color bolsters as my first LCC, which I'm almost positive is a generation 4. But yours is serrated, which is nice. There are 2 manual actions on ebay right now, one for $310 and one for $400.

I have a feeling prices will be going up on these in the future. Prices were higher for several years, but they seem to have come down this year with the economy, making it a good time to buy.

I was watching another one of these on ebay just this week, and was sad to see it got pulled for terms of use violation. Automatic knives are against ebay's policies, but these usually slipped through just fine, as long as the seller wasn't too obvious in his wording. Looks like those days may be over, as the one that got pulled didn't say automatic anywhere on it, and in fact didn't even say double action in the posting: you had to look in the photos to see that it said double action on the box and on the blade.

Yeah, it's a 4th Gen and thus, has the Al (vs. Titanium) bolsters. I'd just assume have a 1st - or 3rd gen L.C.C. for the titanium bolsters. The 2nd Gen was screwed up due to them changing the grip/ bolster sizes but not moving the screw... the image I found a while back on one of the knife forums (but I can't find the original link, argh...) will clearly show what I mean.

Dropped from ebay...? It's hard to believe that the ebay staff came across that image and managed to determine it was an auto... :undecided: My guess is that a disgruntled potential-buyer blew the whistle on the seller or at least the one item.... either way, it sucks as they are hard enough to come by as it is.

Why don't you keep an eye on the trade sub-forums at KF and Blade?

Yeah, that's right. My first is a stonewashed blade, plain-edge gen.4. My second is actually the dark-colored blade gen.2, not gen.1. So it does have the messed up screw on the handles, but I've gotten used to it already. And it's almost more of an investment anyway for me. I have it put away safely for now, so I can decide later if I want to carry it or if I want to sell it later if the price goes up.

I got lucky and found that thread. I'm sure you'll get something out of it too, PBD :)

Well perhaps "messed up" is is going a bit too far... after all, those are carbon fiber grips and won't tear / crack unless placed under extraordinary stress... If something did go wrong, you could always move the 2nd Gen's blade on over to the 4th Gen (iirc, you killed the tip, right?)

Yeah, it functions fine, but it doesn't look as good. :na:

And you're correct, I broke the tip off of the 4th Gen. :banghead:

btw, what steel are used on both your L.C.C.s?
Mine has a rather rare 20C-V... . Note that by using the term "rare" by no means implies better. This is certainly no S90-V steel... ;p

Well it is Chinese since its a dragon but there is not other knife that looks like it. Its a good knife just needed to be sharped a little.

Not all dragon myths are of Chinese origin, and that dragon looks more European regardless...

He was asking if it's a quality knife, or if it's some cheap Chinese novelty piece of crap.
