CNI releases 577 DPSS laser!

Then say bye bye to the 577 as I've just inherited it through your will. :eg:

In my last will I'll definitely include a wish to take my laser collection into my tomb, what if I need them in my afterlife? Like ancient Egyptians put all what will be needed in tombs of pharaohs. :D

Yes, what if? :D It will be my exhume protection system.

577 is a nice lemon yellow. It's a literally the exact polar opposite of 589. 589 is a nice warm Goldenrod yellow and has just the slightest hint of orange in it. 577 is the exact opposite, it's a sharper more bright lemon yellow with just a tiny hint of green instead. Some of the 577s that I've used before make the CNI stuff look like a peashooter :D

578nm for reference (From UKLEM) - camera captured the colour surprisingly well:

Really quite a nice yellow!

Yeah that's actually a pretty good representation of the color. Anytime I've ever tried to photograph it it always comes up greenish.

I'm not family with this wavelength? How much would a handheld sized 578nm cost if even possible?

Its not. Even the weakest ones require huge amounts of pump power. Too much heat for passive cooling

Well, the 578nm shots I posted are from this laser (I think it's this exact unit actually):

So no ... you can't have it in a handheld. :p

Yeah I've seen CVLs, they're quite spectacular. I first saw this WL range out of a dye laser. it's quite simple to make, but a pain in the ass and quite dangerous, as the chemicals involved are quite toxic and messy. OPSL is definitely hitting home in a lot of those medium to high quality, high-output markets pretty hard, and at a somewhat pricy, but fairly affordable (industrially anyway) price point.

Well, looking at your log chart, some of your lasers would do pretty well. Written on tomb door: "Those disturbing the peace, will die by fine cut of pure energy." :D

Awesome description. Completely agree with 589 nm, however I have not seen 577 nm yet.

Nice pics. BTW I noticed the camera got soo many laser hits already - seems to serve as "laser camera". :D

Edit: Damn it, I wish to give some reps, but to CurtisOliver, Ultimatekaiser, diachi and Hap I cannot, I still need to spread some more reps before giving. Why? Why you guys deserve the rep+ and I cannot reward you? :horse:

Yes, my collection should do just fine at guarding my grave. :D
Depending on the person 580-582nm is where the yellow sweet spot actually is. For me it would be around 580-581nm.
I can imagine that 577nm looks wonderful in person. And those images are just WOW!

That CVL is 10W, so probably doing 3-4W average 578nm (They are pulsed, so peaks into the 10s of kWs) if I had to guess, really quite impressive sight to see. Especially through a scanner, those beams are FAT, the mirrors are HUGE! Now I'm feeling the need for a good old photon fix! :p

They sure do look impressive those CVL's. If only I had room for one. :p
