CNI GLP-561 - New Wavelength - *PRICE UPDATE*

Photopic vision will always be what is at play with respect to laser perception.

Just because you're looking at the laser at night, doesn't mean photopic vision is "switched off". Lasers are a high intensity light source, you'll always perceive them with photopic vision.

Re: CNI GLP-561 - New Wavelength Available?

Maybe these was available before CNI decided to not make 561nm handhelds anymore :undecided: hopefully it's still exist and cost <$400.

CNI already has 488nm diodes in lab modules.
488 nm blue diode laser.

Do i smell GLP-488nm soon? :umbrella:

BTW a year ago I sent sail laser asking for 5mW 488nm diode module price, hoping it will be <$500 by any chance, It turned to be $8k :p

... BUT the LASER BEAM is an "illuminated object" (in this context)... so MAYBE mesopic or maybe even photopic vision still applies, depending on the brightness of the beam, and the delay in visual adaptation between "modes".

Funny thought from JBT. And of course it's not like you switch between two modes.
I also don't know exactly but I think if you are in the following situation:

It's a pitch black room and you use a 500mW 532nm laser pointed on the ceiling it seems really bright for your eyes. But it's only ONE wavelenght.
Sunlight in comparison has the full spectrum of wavelengts and a much higher power so I think only with a 0.5W laser :can: you are not in a big part of photopic vision.

Re: CNI GLP-561 - New Wavelength Available?

CNI blows hot and cold on 561.

I tried to get another one, and they said no. Then, I tried to get a 523, and they said "No, but we can do 561".

I honestly believe it depends on which "Ava" you end up talking to.

(I still believe that 'Ava' is the name for everyone on their customer service team. Which is probably staffed by big burly men.)

Honestly I think 561 looks more different from 532 than 515 does. Anyways, my 561 does 41mW, so I wouldn't really call it "low powered", but I know we're spoiled these days...

Looks to me like it's the 1123 line they're doubling.

Here's a little tip. If you can still perceive what color something is, then your still primarily using photopic vision for those particular photons. So laser brightness will always be a lot closer to the photopic curve than it will the scotopic one.

Interesting - was that quote straight from CNI? I got this quote from the website:

1, $850.00 each
5, $800.00 each
10, $750.00 each

It's in the fat CR2 host :(

I like those fat hosts lol. Thats a lovely color. Lime IMO. Too bad all my money isnt cash..

I would be happy to turn one of your assets into cash for you... Namely that GLP 473. Once you receive it back of course ;)

Lol. Im still waiting for it! And im also waiting for my 10oz Pd bar and my "5mW" pointer. Effing customs..its been close to 6 weeks on pointer, about 1 week on Pd, and 1 week on the 473. How much longer do i have to wait? D:

Depending on how many people are interested in this, going directly trough CNI is the better option.

$650 for 1pc
