@aryntha -- That's going to be a sweet laser. I bet it will do ~20mw, maybe more!

Oh. Glenn. Just wanted to update you on my laser. :) It has been doing really good lately! It seems the batteries just take a little more time to charge than I thought. Now that I charge them long enough, I can light matches! :D It's not like "instantly," but it lights in about 5 seconds if the laser is still and on full charge. The beam is also MUCH more solid sense charging the batteries longer. I still may try some eneloops to see if they last even longer. :)

I'm also able to put melt dark colored construction paper (melt "dents" in it), and melt black string in half. Also melt black string back together with a little effort lol!

So just an update for ya!

Cool, I'm kind of hedging my bets a little bit on it doing a bit more than 10mW but, hey. :)

Speaking of which, does anyone know the technical differences between a 589 and a 593.5? Are the 589's using doubling and summing like the 593.5s or just doubling like a 532 or 473?

Just wondering how they're getting so much more power out of these than the 593.5's...
 
Hey Moptsp, thanks for the word on that, I have stick matches from "KING'S Fish House" and w/ my EVO PRO laser, (>155 mW AVG), it can take 4-5 seconds to light a black tip match too! Not all matches are alike, but it c/b your output is more than 125mW. When I measured it it was above 130 mW. Only with an LPM can one be very sure of actual output.

Folks, I think this GB's orders are all in, and most of the funds are cleared, time to send in $ to CNI. I have some faith the lasers will preform above the rated outputs and although this is the first time on 589nm units, I think it will be a good turn out. Thanks All! -Glenn
 
Cool. If this goes well, hopefully next time around I can do a PGL-III-C 473.

So were mine and one other the only 589's ordered? Kinda nuts.. figured people would jump at that. I almost had the urge to contact you at the last minute and say "no lets do 20mW instead of 10mW" but maybe i'll get lucky :)
 
Yes, this time only 2X 589nm lasers, I bet it's a lot more on the next GB! :crackup:

Hes got to order them first, mrbear. :p If CNI ships them out fast it will take around 4-5 days to get to Glenn. After that, Glenn will ship REALLY fast. You should have it in 2-3 days if in the US. (I did in GB 6)

Don't confuse the issue with facts! ;)

I'm perfectly content to wait. I have a bunch of stuff coming this weekend, and some Wicked lasers next weekend (I'm only home on weekends).

Only a total jackass would harass Glenn when he's doing this great service for us out of the goodness of his heart. So I figure I'll make him work for it a bit more. LOL
 
I've already been running Glenn ragged with shipping address mistakes, questions and stuff. I'm amazed at how patient he is.

Glenn, next GB i'll make sure there are no do-overs!

(At the last minute, sent Glenn some extra $ to go to a 589nm PGL-III-C-20mw, and a 473nm PGL-III-C-50mW! Crossing my fingers on these...)

How many lasers are in this order --- fewer than GB#6?
