CNI GB #12 (Fast as we can do it!)

Yea but also waiting patiently from the Jetlasers GB4 for their highest power 445, 532 and 635 action and an 10XBE, not so exotic and expensive, but a lot of more punch in those :eg:

no one is forcing you to buy lasers that make me jealous lol

Oh sure I finally decide I want a yellow and I miss it by a couple days. Looks like I'll have to wait 'til lucky #13.

I may indeed be able to add your request in still, so let me know what model and where you will need me to send it. Thanks! -Glenn

Glenn, next time around you should really push for some more wavelengths. :) It's good to see people getting into both the 594 and 589s though. They really are different.

People told me over and over again that it was just power, but I've compared them at equivalent powers.. But really, they are different.

I plan on budging them very shortly. And I will report back on my budge, as soon as it has occurred.

you shall see.

When you say push for other wavelengths do you mean some custom stuff like the 561 you were able to get, or do you mean the less common to the masses wavelengths?

I agree on the difference in color between the two wavelengths.. Im sure you seen the thread I started about the two. I myself was having a tough time deciding wether or not the two looked different because one was putting out around 3mW and the other 10mW but in the end I decided they were actually different colors.

You seem to have every wavelength under the sun and maybe you could answer this. If CNI offered the 594 in the same host they produce the 589 and 473 in, or even possibly the PL-C host could they make them produce 594 more efficiently? Allowing for higher outputs or is it strictly based on the efficiency of the crystals used to produce 594? Im sure if it was as simple as that they would just use the slightly "fatter" GLP host but I thought I'd ask anyway.

500-510nm Puh Puh Please!!! Anyways good luck! :)

The color is a tad different, but really quite close... Also, I have seen, most colors will look closer to the center of the visible spectrum the higher the output, i.e. a 445nm while 900mW, (very bright), looks sky blue, (almost tourquoise), but when at 1-25 mW it looks half way from blue to violet... & a very bright HeNe looks more orange while a dim one looks more red but is exactly 632.8 nm anyway... so, I see this come into play in 593.5nm as a 20+ mW looks closer to 589nm than one doing 1-3 mW.
And I think it would take a lab 593.5 to do more than about 45 to 55mW at least for many seconds... ;) -Glenn

Keep in mind that the 500nm DPSS process is REALLY inefficient... like uber-more than 589 inefficient. I would be shocked if they could portable-ize it, let alone at anything near a single mW.

515nm on the other hand, maybe... but I question how many people would shell out for that, with ~515nm diodes just around the corner.

Yeah thats true.. Cyan would just be the perfect spot in the spectrum with all of the other wavelengths available in portable size.. And I really do believe that MindRipper guy that was offering that pre-order on the 510.. I think well see it by the end of summer, at least Im hoping.

Thanks for the input as always Glenn, I still have yet to take pictures of the new 30mW 445.. Im curious to how it looks side by side with the 70mW's of 405 and 15-20 mW's of 473..

Thanks guys,

-Greg

(looks at his sig).... Ya see.... :)

Yes, 593.5 @ ~58mW is still quite different than 589 @ ~60mW (my PGL-III-C 589's before warmup, is what I used :P ) --

A
lso did a 'low power' comparison using my Rigel 2mW 593.5, and my CNI ~3mW 589. Same diff. 589 is definitely more yellow... To me at least...

Aren't you doing the LG buy or are you going to buy both the 589 and 594?

-Greg

I'd love to buy both but my credit card would explode. Honestly I like the looks of 589 over 594 but I may just get the 594 now and grab the 589 on GB #13.

Add these "Pens":
