CLOSED! Now Distributing ROUND 2!: THE "Skylaser" (laserBtB) groupbuy!

Sorry for the issue Psych. Welcome to the aisle of misfit toys. Getting crowded:tired::(

I got home tonight and they where waiting in the living room, everything looks good including the pen type gift. So far I have setup the HL532 for a quick power test and it looks pretty good, that was with a fresh IMR 550.

Morale is pretty low at my place.

My HL532 appears to be DOA. I hope I'm doing something wrong. Voltage checked on the battery, and even tested in another laser pointer. Negative side in, case positive? The plug with the red wire is plugged into the back. The key arrow is pointing forward, although I've tried both directions several times. The red button feels a little mushy. I was expecting a click. Is this momentary on? I've confirmed the aperture is open. But she doesn't fire. I'm really bummed. There is some crushing damage to the leatherette case, but not anything I think would cause damage within the case. Not even a faint red glow. When 532s fail from shock, doesn't the 808nm pump diode still work? I guess I thought I should at least emit a faint red glow.

This is poopy stinky. :yabbmad::yabbmad::yabbmad:

I've got AAAs charging to test the pointers. That will have to wait until later. I've avoided reading through this thread as people have gotten their goods, because the few I read left me feeling people were being impatient or critical. Now, I'm feeling impatient and critical!

I'm gonna take a break and then read through 1100+ posts. Maybe there will be something in there I can use.

Am I missing something obvious, here? this isn't complicated.

Poopy.

My 50mw HL532 came sans the 16340 battery but it too has a "mushy" power button. Unfortunately I don't HAVE any batteries at the moment to see whether or not it's DoA.

Going to try to find a place tomorrow that sells them.

The gift pen is pretty bright, but the moment you move it around the AAA batteries within shift and the thing shuts off. After reseating them twice and making sure the back is screwed in as TIGHT AS POSSIBLE it started to work after wiggling it around.

I'm.. starting to have my doubts about this purchase.

I guess I don't feel bad my only problem was the wrong gift. My pen did the same all I did was put a neodymium magnet between the cells and it works perfect.

I'm concluding my HL532-300 has no output. DOA. :( I'm seriously bummed. I get that Kevin will fix this, but it looks like I'll have to wait for several weeks before I can play. Maybe, even a month. :p

My iPhone camera nor my Canon PowerShot can pick up any noticeable output. I wish I had an 808nm lying around, to test they can see the IR. I have other 532 greenies, but the green output is so bright in the pictures, I cannot tell if there is IR in there.

This HL host is okay, and the diffraction gratings are okay, too, I guess. I don't have a warm fuzzy feeling about my purchase, though.

What documentation do I need to show, pictures, etc, to demonstrate this thing isn't working?

Arrrgh what's a good battery for this HL532-50 anyway? Only thing I see local are 3V with differing mAh, and 3.7v online from random places.

Thanks.

It's just finding one now. M'still extremely green when it comes to this stuff so please forgive my newness.

Still a little bitter it didn't actually come with one. -.-

HL532 you should use a IMR 16340. I use AW 16340.

That is in a lithium rechargeable. If you wanna see it work, you can find CR123 that are disposable, but many more stores will carry them. If I were you, and you want rechargeable, buy a couple CR123s, and order a pair of IMR 16340 with a charger online, and use the CR123 in the meantime.

OK, my HL532 is putting out IR. But it looks purple on my camera. I would have presumed it would be red. Note the crushing damage to the case. My items were packed pretty tight in the box with little to no cushion. Perhaps someone played soccer with the box on its way to me?

I feel a little better seeing it put something out. sigh.

I put my HeNe through the diffraction gratings. They're kinda cool. I sure wish I could see 300mW of 532, though. I'll LPM my 632 pens in the next day or two.

So what now? Do I PM offroad, or is he on this? What do I do next?
