Got mail!
@ everybody. I discussed the next GB with kevin. NExt GB orders will be sent out way slower with higher QC that pays attention to degrading, lower QC was a contradiction of shipping everything this fast. Both me and kevin and i think everybody would like it better to wait longer and have less complaints. Like the gifts that went wrong etc.

greetings,,,

Are you referring to the diode degrading?

what is the name on it? hopefully not another members name.

It is and i know which member but I'm not going to say it on the thread.
I don't think it should matter. its the right laser and the right address only the wrong name on the shipping info.
:p

@ IE you get the same procedure as kadath for your underspec lasers. Which is also nice because you can get 20% back

I wasn't going to bring this up before, but those are not the terms of the GB that this GB, or the original one, were set forth with.

Directly from Kevin, and in the OP:

If someone’s laser is defective and he can prove that, we will replace that laser for free, no problem including postal mail cost and new laser. We can sign the contract.

1. I certainly have no problem taking a video, to prove that the lasers are not up to spec. Would taking the cells fresh off of the charger suffice? I need to pick up a new multimeter if not.

2. Nowhere does he say that lasers have to be sent to him for secondary verification first.

I am stringently opposed to this, because it will drag the process out for a very long time. At least 1 week for the lasers to be shipped back to him, a questionable amount of time for the lasers to be tested by him, more time while new lasers are made, and more time for them to be sent out.

Stick the chinese new year celebration, and backlog in there and I'll be lucky to have replacements before April.

Please ask Kevin for a more reasonable counter proposal.

I'll take a video of the lasers tonight.

Quality control = :D
Maybe my laser degrades quickly = :cryyy:

Wait, are you also seeing lower performance from an older laser?

In the quality control department, I'd like to expand a bit on why I believe we often encounter problems.

Insufficiently long testing.

Yes, I'm willing to bet all lasers that go out, are in fact tested.

Unfortunately too often that test consists of ~10 seconds on the LPM, and into the box it goes.

Meanwhile when we receive the lasers and test them ourselves, we're looking at the output over a longer time, and tend to re-test many, many times.

Another update from kevin! At the moment the workers of kevin are with holiday till 18th. However kevin will still be available during the holiday updating me with tracking numbers etc.

@brendon7358 you will be sent the correct gift! after the holiday

@ IE i sent him that request.

greetings,,

The laser is a bit underpowered. It's consistent at 85-95mW which is on the low side, but within reason.

Ask Kevin for permission to potmod the HL450 laser with keeping the warranty. The laser can do easily 250mW with a turn of a screwdriver.

95% i would potmod mine :p just keep the thing on your lpm while you turn the screw. Set at 250mW done

So the 10th is really now and my replacement won't be shipped? Hope this is not true as that decision was based on Sky sending this unit out before the holiday.
Don't understand the delay in finding out my other shipment. Nothing yet?

I believe that one is allready sent ;) He told me to wait for the tracking No. I also dont understand the delay with the tracking numbers however kevin is available on mail every evening and i am sure he will pass them trough to me when he gets them.

When I check it it says in process of production. Hope you're correct and it just hasnt been updated on their site. If it has been sent I'll likely need the number as I don't expect to get it from Sky.
Don't understand why getting tracking numbers seems to be like pulling teeth from the guy:tsk:
:thanks: Offroad.

Morale is pretty low at my place.

My HL532 appears to be DOA. I hope I'm doing something wrong. Voltage checked on the battery, and even tested in another laser pointer. Negative side in, case positive? The plug with the red wire is plugged into the back. The key arrow is pointing forward, although I've tried both directions several times. The red button feels a little mushy. I was expecting a click. Is this momentary on? I've confirmed the aperture is open. But she doesn't fire. I'm really bummed. There is some crushing damage to the leatherette case, but not anything I think would cause damage within the case. Not even a faint red glow. When 532s fail from shock, doesn't the 808nm pump diode still work? I guess I thought I should at least emit a faint red glow.

This is poopy stinky. :yabbmad::yabbmad::yabbmad:

I've got AAAs charging to test the pointers. That will have to wait until later. I've avoided reading through this thread as people have gotten their goods, because the few I read left me feeling people were being impatient or critical. Now, I'm feeling impatient and critical!

I'm gonna take a break and then read through 1100+ posts. Maybe there will be something in there I can use.

Am I missing something obvious, here? this isn't complicated.

Poopy.
