CLOSED! Now Distributing ROUND 2!: THE "Skylaser" (laserBtB) groupbuy!

Yeah not having tracking numbers sucks because I'm pretty much stuck at home all day encase it comes which I might because it shipped a few days ago. If I had tracking number at least I could leave a note and go out.

AW? 25º, snow, 8mph winds????? Stay home in the warmth and play with the nice lasers!

its actually more like 24 mph, but yeah i've got to go out and do some shopping and pay some bills, looks like i'm leaving the wife at home just encase

I stayed home because of kidney issues and then my wife comes home a few minutes ago and has to go to urgent care. She sliced a finger open pretty good. Tired of the neverending dortor stuff.......

Actually, the 301 extension will screw into the HL. The issue is that they didn't bore the HL out quite enough to fit the width of the 18650:(
So, who's gonna be the first to bore theirs out? Doesn't need much:whistle:

I tried this myself this morning before I saw your post here. The extension fits just fine, but you're right, the HL host is only going to accept 16mm batteries. I sent a message to yobresal to see if he has an 16650 IMRs for sale. I don't expect him to have any, but if he does, I'll be buying a couple! Plus, I need some 18350 batteries from him, too (for my RIFLE, because I've been wrapping my 16340's with tape in order to make them fit).

You could bore out the end a bit and with a 16340 spacer and the 301 tube can use an 18350 if you wanted with the HL532:shhh:

It's not a perfect fit, but with the sd301 the one 17670 fits just fine. It would be great if these could be bored out to accept 18350, or 18650 with extension.

Switching to the larger cells should also help out with stability somewhat.

I know hakzaw has 16650's for sale, not sure what brand or if they are IMR though. Sale thread here:

It's good to know that 17mm batteries fit, too! Thanks for the info.

My LPM is a new LaserBee A. It gives the same output now for lasers I metered the day it arrived. I'm not sure it was ever calibrated properly. I could find a physics grad student here at UC Berkeley who has access to a much better LPM and ask for one of my lasers to be metered, but that would be a hassle that I don't think is necessary.

My DIY HL450 laser ready. I have waited until the glue has set. The driver, keylock, aperture shutter and the lensbarrel need glue to get it in place. Now I understand why these lasers are so locked down. Because of glue in many places. :D

I used some thermal paste between the brass diode module and the host. I feel the laser now much faster heated up. That is a good sign because heat is removed from the diode fast. And the laser has been tweaked to 255mW.

From this,

Normally when a diode is heated up the wavelength shift upwards. In this case towards 532nm and that is the wrong direction for the 520nm laser. :)
You need to cooled it with a TEC.
