You can get an ML7 which blocks the IR, and is about OD1.5 for red. You don't get IR from red diodes, only from DPSS lasers, or IR lasers, so the IR filtering is more useful in conjunction with green-filtering goggles (like the ML7).
I was thinking about the OD for red too, but I can't seem to find any goggles which are both OD2-3 for ~650nm and overkill for 808nm IR (as I understand it, since it's invisible there is no blink reflex to save my eyes or even notice an accidental shot, right?)
What would be the minimum power (after attenuation by goggles) to even notice a red dot?
