Charge 26650's and 32600's with a Ultrafire WF-139






Dutch;

With only 450 ma output,

it is too slow to charge larger capacity 26650 & 32600 size cells.

You will need several amps to charge two large cells.

This is what I use for up to 5amp charging:

obviously you would have to rig it. then the second thing is that it will charge them but take forever since its mah isn't rated that high. third, since they are liion batts you have to be extra careful. why don't you buy the correct charger?

sorry if that sounded rude. but it looked like you hadn't purchased any charger yet.

not a lot of people use those size batteries around here. so if you do decide on the correct sized charge go ahead and post a link!!!!

I use a WF-188 with two 32600's.

They do not charge quickly by any means, but when the lights finally change colors, the battery voltage measures what it should.
 
^ Do you have a general idea how long it takes? You do two 32600 at a time?
 
Please keep in mind that it's impossible to charge a battery 'too slow'. Sure low charge rates take forever, but they in no way hurt anything, and are also less risky than high charge rates.

So long as the charger cuts off at the correct voltage, you can charge li-ions at 20mAh if you wanted too and it wouldn't kill anything but time.

It's been a few weeks since I last recharged them, so I am going by imperfect memory. But...

I charge 2 at once. That's certain.

Took at least 3 hours.

whats the charge current of the WF-188?

I use a Soshine SC-S2 and it chargers at 1A.

Also i have a LiPo charger (for my RC chopper) and you can adjust the charge current up to 5000mA in 100mA steps, can i use that if i keep the charge rate ≤ 1C?

So if i charge my Sanyo 2600mAh at 1C, 2.6A (C Rating = mAh rating of battery/1000 = Charge current) it should take 1 hour to charge the battery?

The charge current of the WF-188 is adjustable at 650mA or 300mA.

Most dedicated lithium polymer chargers use a charge timer for safety, this cuts the charge after a predefined time (typically 90 minutes).

The basic process is to charge at constant current until each cell reaches 4.2 V

Then, 0.65C or 0.70C I think is the maximun suitable for (LiPo) battery, and this chargers is not suitable for Li-Ion batteries, because the charging process is different

Yes, but not with the charger for LiPo you quoted before.

Also for security, both, LiPo batteries and Li-Ion temperature monitoring is recommended for faster recharge if this is possible.
 
Yes LiPo are NOT Li-Ion. They have much different charging characteristics and requirements. Using a LiPo charger to charge a LiIon.. or vice versa, is pretty much a guarantee for a battery fire.
