think about it. they likely do not want to make it easy for DIYers and whippersnappers to get access to a 2 watt laser diode.
What I'd the epoxy is within the diode slot around the pins as well? Are you going to drill through to the diode? I don't think drilling is going to be the answer.
We would already be doing this if it were an option.
It's prohibitively expensive. Even in orders of hundreds it's going to be several hundred to a thousand dollars a diode. Only when your order tens of thousands or even millions do you get into the <$100 a diode range.
