I noticed in alot of pictures on reviews, laser collection show-off-ing and things like that, some people have these plastic endcaps on their lasers. I wanted to know where I can get them, but the guy (a vet, as usual) I PM'd about it wasn't kind enough to reply (as expected) so I'm bringing it to here. Does anybody know where I can get these, also any recommendations of how to clean the lens of my laser if the aperature isn't big enough to put a q-tip in?

We use different things for dust caps. Many of us use the "clicky covers" that DX sells. If you use these you have to cut the little "nub" out of the inside first. Another thing we use are the protective ends for tubes/legs/tripods/etc.

Peace,
dave

As Dave said, we usually get these tailcaps DealExtreme: $1.89 Glow-in-the-Dark Silicone Tailcaps for Flashlights (14mm Green / 10-Pack)
You can also get ones in other colours, but the GITD tailcaps are often used for blu-ray pointers since the blu-ray will make them glow.

For cleaning your lasers and basically any type of optic, I recommend using a lens pen: LENSPEN is The superior Camera lens cleaning system for all fine optics, rifle scopes, camcorder and camera viewer screens, binoculars

Danke, I'll get those caps. As for the lens pen.... The aperature isn't un-screwable like with a CNI pen. I've only got about 5mm width and whatever I use has to reach the lens, at about 10mm depth...

What do you guys use (if anything) to cover a laser the size of the Viper by Dragonlasers? Basically just a regular pen-sized pointer.

Go to your local ACE, MENARD'S, etc. & ask where they keep the silicone caps that they put over the ends of drill bits, treading taps, etc. They come in a wide selection of sizes & colors.--------- rob

The GITD caps only fit 1 or 2 size lasers, whereas the silicone caps I spoke of will fit a dozen or more sizes of lasers. Just make sure you take your laser/s with you so you get the correct size----------rob

Thanks alot guys, I'm ordering the glowing ones today and I'll check the hardware store anyway, I'm looking to cover my three pointers listed here, but I'll be buying two portable lasers soon, after that, the ~500 OEM style at dragonlasers sure looks nice for the price :) (350.00!!!) but it is 650nm... :( any suggestions on how to find an OEM with more power/less price would be great, and no, I can't make my own... I'm electrically retarded.

Don't feel bad, not only am I electrically retarded, I'm also a computer idiot !!!!!!

Dave, mine fit on perfectly without cutting off the nub, it must just depend on the laser.
