Can 1 watt 445nm blind you?

Well put Mike! I used to shoot on a trap league, one of the guys I used to shoot with had a 3800$ Parazi semi auto. He was cheap, he used to get powder at yard sale and load his own shells, at one of our shoots his gun blew up sending the bolt out threw the back of the receiver. He was wearing shooting glasses but they didn't help much. He lost his right eye and cheek bone, I was 2 positions over, it's one of those things you never forget! The cause was being unsafe by not using the proper powder, just being cheap and using what ever he bought at yard sales not knowing what ever kind of powder he thought it was.


Shoot your self in the eye with a BBgun, will it blind you? Maybe, maybe not! It's the same thing with a 1w 445, it's stupid to question either one!

You can look at the dot and the beam and you will be able to see for a while, just don't look into it. (I Think that It what he wanted to know.) I don't advise looking at dot close.
 
Never blind yourself with a 1W 445nm! Always take it in baby steps. First build a 200mw red and start with that. If after doing it with the red, you may proceed to green, if you feel like you want more. J/K

Edit: Seriously though, Class 4/IV lasers used to weigh as much as a refrigerator, and required a sign on the laboratory door warning about the danger. Just because they are extremely portable now has not minimized the risk, in fact it has increased do to the portability.

If you ask this kind of question you should be put on the blacklist of every laser manufacturer. Anyone selling components to this person should be charged with enabling a handicapper or assisting in self mutilation :crackup:

Powder at a yardsale? I've never seen such an item at a yardsale.
 
I got a keg of black powder at a garage sale a few years ago, it has been under my bed ever since.
Actually, now that I think about it, that is a good thing to play with when it comes to these higher powered lasers... :whistle:
I heard of a guy having his gun explode because there were flies hibernating in the barrel (.22 I think)
I always check the barrel but you look kinda silly holding the gun (bolt open) toward the light, looking up the barrel ^_^
People take stupid risks when they are around some of this stuff for too long and get lazy. I have a friend that was reloading his own .45 shells and must have missed the powder on one.
I got him shut down when I heard the odd shot but we were practicing quick draw double tap and time trial hostage clearing scenarios that day.
Could have been pretty bad if he put another round out the spout.
*It's surprisingly difficult to press a lump of lead out the barrel like that*

Yes at yard sales!
I have bought a case of 12 gauge trap loads and empty cases, not to mention rifle shells. I never bought powder like Cliff did. His accident happened in 94. I have seen guns for sale at a garage sale, I bought a Remington Model 11 12Ga.

Are you kidding? I hope that this is one of the worst jokes ever... why would you even bother to tell someone that...
 
If you had the 445nm laser gogles on and got the beam right in your eye, what would happin? With gogles do you still need to be carfull? Will the beam still hurt to a lesser extent? Or can you beam all day threw them with no problems?
 
If your goggles are appropriate for the power you are using them for then you will be safe assuming the laser doesn't burn through them from prolonged exposure at high power.
Might be best to avoid testing them that far while wearing 'em ^_^
 
they are designed to protect you against a certain power for a certain amount of time. that is what you have to read in your specific instructions of your goggle. but no matter thier rating, it is not safe to rely on somebody else.
