BEAMSHOT COMPETITION! w/ prizes :) anyone can enter (**ENTRIES CLOSED**)!

Re: BEAMSHOT COMPETITION! w/ prizes :) anyone can enter (deadline 11/18)!

I'll enter if I get my 1.2Watt 445nm before deadline!

Re: BEAMSHOT COMPETITION! w/ prizes :) anyone can enter (deadline 11/18)!

It's my ML argon. No 473nm in that pic. However I do Have a 473.
Dat 473nm

To answer Diogo's question: Thats 24 LD's straight out of the projector :)

<-gutted, only night coming up with a full moon is a 30% chance of storms, and full cloud cover :(

Re: BEAMSHOT COMPETITION! w/ prizes :) anyone can enter (deadline 11/18)!

Cloud cover might be helpful for beamshots ;)

Or get a beamshot with some lightning in the background.... there we go

Or take some underwatershots like I did just a few minutes ago :shhh:

That pic looks amazing
It's like it's setting off some kind of Violet Dwarf Star.

I have just had a whole heap of FS mirrors arrive so I'm going to spend all night playing around with them and see what I can come up with.

Looks like we have some artists :)

Re: BEAMSHOT COMPETITION! w/ prizes :) anyone can enter (deadline 11/18)!

I gotta enter this, I am going to spend hours thinking lool :)

Re: BEAMSHOT COMPETITION! w/ prizes :) anyone can enter (deadline 11/18)!

Regarding the issue of person with the best beamshot picture probably not needing more lasers: Personally, I would favour the competition being using only one laser. But whatever. Too late now.

In other news, I found a guy in the flat next door who has a DSLR. So my entry is still on! Although to be honest I'll probably never actually get round to submitting an image. That's what I tend to do with this sort of thing.

That's the goal :san:

Do it!! Go crazy with it!

Don't worry there will be more of these :) you should just try to have some fun with it! Spend 30 minutes putting together some picture and see how it does! Ya never know what you might come up with!

Re: BEAMSHOT COMPETITION! w/ prizes :) anyone can enter (deadline 11/18)!

589nm is a lovely color, and that's a gorgeous beam picture!

Tis unfortunate only very expensive, inefficient and fragile crystal lasers can produce that beautiful color. At least it's available as a pointer.

It would be good to see more colors available in the laser diode market (if only as many colors as the LED market). Currently there are only two available colors for laser diodes - red and violet :(

How about the rest of the visible spectrum?

If you were meaning single-mode, high-powered (200mW+) and financially viable then you would be correct.

How about a diode that can output 2W of light and has a little dial on the side that allows the changing of wavelengths from 405nm to 660nm? I'd like that.

That would be cool, but would it actually be possible?

I guess it could be done with an IR diode and lots of different crystals.

I'm thinking more crazy ;) just a single diode with this capability!! No crystals involved ;) hehehe
