Also keep in mind murdering a single diode is not going to get you enough data to be
called "valid".
As you know, laser diodes vary in their efficiency, how would you know from a single
one if it was a good, average or bad one? In order to truly get an idea of the capabilities,
you'd need to "murder" at least three of them, IMHO.

Now if only we could lay our grabby mitts on IgorT's torture chamber.....

True , but to get to three you have to start with one.

I wouldn't mind seeing what these can do, I would contribute. I also think that more than a couple need to be wrung out.

I think you need to get a trusted member on board to test it first so people know what kind of feedback to expect.

Yep, My plan was to have dave or somebody of the likes do the testing. I for sure wouldn't be doing the testing

Dont believe anything from that clown. Arenared is a fraud.

I believe it , it clearly shows without any editing.

Also I don't think the topic here is whether you believe in someone or not.

Back on topic, the maximum rating for these diodes are higher to start off with than the 12x. So it would be nice to see what they can do. Beam profile, voltage requirements .... Etc.

I´m able to measure >400mW with a red cat keychain. I`M A KING YEAH???

Too bad I don´t have my IR laser any longer

If someone reputable (not arenared or kip :D) is interested in testing 1-2 diodes, I´m in for a murder fund.

Also, that 1130mW video looks more like 445 to me. Many cameras pick up 445 as purple.

I agree reputable should be primary.

I just may get one myself instead of waiting for this to actually happen and before someone tries to derail the thread.

It could so easily be a 445 in that video. My phone cam records 445 as more violet than actual violets. I could video a 445 metering at 1100mW and you'd swear it was a 405, even if I told you it was a 445.

No he is testing a blu ray. The 445nm diodes came in 05/2010 (first discussion here) , the video was uploaded at the beginning of 04/2010. But as I said before, he may have added an IR laser to the sensor we (and all the youtubers) won´t see. You can search for arenared/slipstream(..) if you´re interested.

BACK TO THE TOPIC

WOW ped I love you for having that laser!! You´re sooo cool

1W of 405nm must be awesome. I would love to make class presentations with it.

I know its you Louis.
