I posted this somewhere else but this is the info. I had gathered on the PF vs. the PD and was just me copy and pasting so none of these comments come from me:
Different chemistry to the PD. LiNiCOMnO2. The PD has Lithium Nickel Cobalt Aluminium core and the PF has a Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide core. The PF chemisty should be better for longer high drain applications and should be less prone to damage over time.

this is the reply:
'Hi William,
Yes, that's the improved PD. It runs even cooler on high Amps, and improvement on voltage drop. Nothing significant. 30-40 mAh more in capacity as well.'
it just shows that any improvement they can make they will and panasonic is staying busy in the R&D dept
