Astral Driver - Buck, Boost, & Buck-Boost

I am just trying to get the package that is sitting now, delivered to me. I need to file a missing mail claim in order to get this done. I need the sender's name and return address as well as the type package, irregular box, it was sent it. Then after three more days, I hope to get my drivers.
 





Astralist. The drivers you sent me a month ago are now in Los Angeles on their way back to you. The reason....the label, if it was ever there, fell off and there is no name or address to deliver them to me. I opened a case last Friday to try to get them delivered and the post master at my local post office has been trying to get them for me, too. But, they are on the way back to you and I have builds sitting here waiting for drivers that are not coming. I will pay whatever it takes to get them sent to me the quickest way possible. PLEASE DO THIS ASAP!!!!!

Damn, Paul, that sucks big time, I know you've been waiting on these for a while now. I just checked the status of my drivers, and they are in San Fransisco as of yesterday. :(

Hopefully astralist can get some replacements to you asap!

Edit: Looks like some great customer service and follow through!

Yes, he supposed to get back to me in four hours. I REALLY need these drivers badly. Thanks, Jeff.
 
I can't pay $100.00 to ship drivers that cost less than the shipping. I'd have to eat the entire loss myself.

Here is the test result:

Method of test:
  • PWM/TTL pin left unconnected
  • Using 2x4.2V battery (8.4V) as source
  • Current measured as a voltage across 1Ω resistor
  • Driver not heatsinked

Result:

Current output: 2A @ 4.4Vf

And here is the TTL/PWM control test. PWM/TTL pin driven manually just to prove that it can control the turn on/off of the driver.
I'll test it more thoroughly by using a real PWM freq of 1kHz later.
Current output: 2A @ 4.4Vf

Driver is adjustable from 1.2A to 4.5A+ (depends on Vf)
Up to 2.4A is fine without heatsink

those look awesome and have better price than the older superdrive(i don't mind the 4.5A max compared to the old 5.5A),i'll wait for your new high current buck driver to make one package for all of them :wave:
 
Thanks, astralist. I couldn't track it last night, but hope to later today. The TTL input on these new drivers look good. What is the jump in the soft start? :thinking:
 
Those bump at the beginning of soft start is either the characteristic of the regulator, or it's from the startup of current sensor (current sensor is not working if Vout below 2.5V)

High voltage test
Method:
  • Vin using cheap n dirty adjustable laptop charger
  • Vf simulated using series of diode
  • Current measured as a voltage across 1Ω resistor
  • Driver is not heatsinked

Result:

Current output: 2.3A @ 4.6Vf; Vin = 12V

I just measured the REAL output of my adjustable laptop charger, here is the real output:
12V = 12.8V
15V = 15.5V
16V = 16.5V
18V = 18.9V
19V = 19.7V

nice to see that its going up to 5A+,did you really run it at 5A output without heatsink? :eek:

Yeah, i always tested them without heatsink, to observe the worst case scenario :D

When running at 5A without heatsink, the thermal protection kicks in within 5 secs :crackup:
 
Great test results Astralist :beer: congratulations on another successful driver, and to achieve 5A output is a pleasing result :D
Did you run any tests with 8V in @ Max Pot? to simulate 2x 4.1V cells?
