Thanks! :D

They will be ready soon, just tweaking the user interface and button effects. You're second on my list and I have two made at the moment, so I'll let you know when it's ready :)

Perhaps the entire project will be released this weekend, I still need to finish the assembly tutorial for DIY'ers.

:takeit::bowdown:

reading though the tread i believe i was the first to confirm that i wanted one of the Ophir versions, unless someone pm'ed you about it. either way whenever it good for you is good for me!

any picture of it hooked up and data logging?

Looks good Arg...
So... what are the final costs for one of that last
design ??
And how much for shipping to Canada or the USA ??

What are the final specs on the last design ??

The final costs to buy it or to DIY one? Shipping to the USA/Canada is 20$.

The specs at the end vary for TEC units as it depends on the paint/TEC people use.

These are the specs for the Ophir

* Real time data logging via PC or MAC
* 2.5" Liquid Crystal Display
* Full backlight control
* Zeroing
* Peak power
* Run with 9V battery or a 9V AC plug pack
* 0.1mW resolution
* Up to 60 measurements per second
* 4W max (Can be improved with a heatsink)
* 0.8s response time (0-95%)
* .5mW noise

Hi Arg,

A very professional looking unit.
:bowdown:

Thanks! :)

Is noise is listed as .5mw instead of percentage of the signal, why is the resolution set to .1mw?

That's the noise listed in the data sheet from Ophir, the resolution can be set to anything.

Thanks for the info but I was talking about your TEC based
LPM's cost and Specs.

I already know the specs of the OPHIR 20C head and can
get new parts to make a basic LPM with it for ~$25.00.

So... what are the final costs for one of that last design LPM
for TEC Sensors and does the TEC Sensor head come with it ??

Yeah, but 25$ doesn't get you datalogging or a nice screen ;)

A TEC LPM (bought from me) will be 150$, with the screen, data logging calibrated TEC head, ect. Of course it will be cheaper for those looking to DIY their own LPM based off of this design.
The specs are continually changing as I'm still looking for that "perfect" TEC (I'm currently sourcing ones with black ceramic plates, so that painting wont be necessary)
Until then I will be continuing to sell one off units.

Once I have the perfect TEC found I can produce a lot more of these LPM's, and I can provide specs that will not change unit to unit.
Ideally the black ceramic TEC's will work out well enough such that the calibration and the curve adjustment will be the same for all of them, giving people an easy way to make their own LPM without need for calibration equipment! :D

Thanks for the partial info....

FYI... we've been doing this for about 5 years now and I have yet
to find two TECs that exhibit the same identical characteristics
when used in the Seebeck configuration.

Even the High Density P/N junction TECs we use on our Higher
end LaserBee LPMs that cost us ~$70 ea don't read the same
enough to not require calibration.

Then there is the the coating itself... It must be broadband..
It must be applied at the same thickness every time.

If you find that elusive broadband pre-coated TEC be sure
to let us know...:beer:

BTW... when will you be releasing the Schematics and BOM
for your Open Source LPM..

I know that no two TEC's will be exactly perfect, but if it's good enough to get within 10% each time then it's better than most DIY TEC LPM's already, the goal of this is to make DIY LPM's easier, and calibration is the biggest hurdle to cross with DIY LPM's.
Of course with the units I sell each one is calibrated & curve adjusted individually.

I'll be sure and let you know if I find the elusive broadband pre-coated TEC; I have been on the hunt for a very long time.

The schematic and BoM is done, the assembly tutorial and firmware need work; once those are done it'll be released.

I don't think the predictive measuring for TEC that gives 15mm TEC's a 5s response time will make it into the firmware release, but I need to get the array that stores the 3,000 curve adjustment values into the release.

Yeah can't wait these are going to be so sweet. Already thinking about what kind of enclosure I'm going yo use for this beauty, maybe something clear!
