Anybody know about the Mitsubishi ML562G18?

I can't find any information on that product code on Mitsubishi's website or anywhere else on the internet (just a quick google search).

If it's a real product, $65 is a great deal. The picture suggests a single emitter. The other highest power single-emitter 638 that is available is the Ushio 1.2 W diode, which sells for more like $120.

I have been following the ushio thread and was looking on ebay to find recent prices when I came across the 1.8w mitsu. I will email them via ebay and see if they have a datasheet.

Single beam but multi mode, if there was a single mode red doing 1.2 or 1.8w that would be ☢☢☢......a real nice beam.

Notice the seller has a feedback of 3 .......So maybe this is a fraud ?

Here's that Ushio > https://www.ebay.com/itm/USHIO-HL63283HD-638nm-1200mW-Organe-Red-Laser-Diode-Single-Beam-High-Power-Diode/262887287538?_trkparms=aid=555018&algo=PL.SIM&ao=1&asc=20131003132420&meid=c020f0299d624ee494c446b5cdef2d9c&pid=100005&rk=3&rkt=6&sd=312409083995&itm=262887287538&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851

All 3 feedbacks are "private". Good chance its bogus. Maybe he is selling USHIO HL63283HD as the mystery mistu? Hard to know.

Just checked... seller is selling USHIO 1.2W also and looks to be using the same photos for both.

sellers reply for datasheet;

Thanks for your message.
Because this diode is extracted from brand new machine.
I am so sorry we do not have datasheet of this diode.
But we can provide these information:
Brand: Mitsubishi
Center wavelength: 638nm
Output power: 1.8W+
Operating voltage: 2V
Operating current: 1.8A
Thresh current: 450mA

So, I asked how they knew what the specs are. The reply;

Dear customer,

Thanks for your kind message.
Because we do know every parts in machines, definitely Mitsubishi diodes.
Also, we tested the diodes so we got the data.

Hi,
Mitsubishi ML562G85 9.0mm 638nm 2.1W Orange Red Laser Diode Laser diode .This is the twin beam version..
Even though the divergence is not great its really neat just to see two beams of red showing. Just something to add to a collection of different diodes. This diode you can't get critical on specs but again pretty different. I enjoy the odd ball diodes. they might not be around to long just cool to have.

I couldn't agree more with you, Bob. I have often thought why they couldn't get these beams to at least line up, but.....NO. They go off in different directions and I have no use for that.

Well...the dual " Beamge "....is surly unique....I just do not care for the demonstration of non-Parallel beams.

OK....At some time....in the distant past....A member noted that at some distance....the beams of a combiner build WILL become....off-set....NOT in a combined path. That is true !

Our eyesight mechanism of Parallex view....gives us the impression....that the beams meet....er….somewhere at infinity. While they head that way.....the reality of being combined is an illusion......a beautiful illusion....but an illusion!!

On our Combiner Builds......Divergence and very, very, very small physical discrepancy between Pitch 1~ Pitch 2...…..Yaw 1 ~ Yaw 2 on the combined beams......leave perfect alignment.....unachievable …. But then..... WHO CARES !! My eyes see only so far..... !!!

Later,
CDBEAM

Note....Our eyes "See" to the edge of the Universe....just not in detail !!! hahaha

That is from the same Australian seller who had the 565nm and 575nm lasers that were overpriced. All his diodes look to be way overpriced to me too. He wants $90.00 for a used M140 diode plus shipping.

If you look at how that dual beam diode is made it has 2 emitting regions in 1 chip, so it's basically a very wide beam with bad divergence with a big center section missing, that's why they spread, it's the 2 edges of what should be a very wide beam.

A little overpriced, but dont forget its in $AUD Paul :)
He sells low hour M140´ s and Used M140´s for $35AUD, which = $25USD, not to shabby

This might be a new Diode Red, not the G84 or G85, but a new model with a single emitting region. We wont know until its tested by a member here :)

How can one tell the difference between a "low hour" M140 and a "used" M140? That means his "low hour" M140s are ~$65.00USD plus shipping. No thanks.
