Received the lenses today! Awesome :beer: i have a question though. The pass through hole of the lens holders is very small. Does the lens really have the same efficiency as a G2 when focussed to infinity in this lens holder?

Sorry if this allready has been asked :) i did not participate in this GB as i would liked. Life got in the way :(

If these lenses are the same as the 11 I purchased from a different supplier, then YES they will focus with a 26% increase over the 3 element lenses for the 445nm lasers and will definitely focus out to infinity. I haven't received the ones from the GB so I can't say for sure about those.

Glad you received them! ;) About the aperture size thing, I can't really say since I don't own a G2 lens in order to compare...you can find some info in the first post though! :beer:

I see :) i will do some testing later. And worst case scenario is that i need to drill out some of the material of the screw. I have no doubt the lenses will perform. Only the aperature screw seems way to thin since my gut tells me 445 has a fat beam.

Still super glad i joined! :D

With how close the lens sits to the diode the aperture would have to be really small to block the light as apposed to how it does with the longer focal length three element lens. The area the light passes through is very small. The beam is probably only about 1-1.5mm wide where it enters a G-2 or this lens so the aperture would have to be smaller than that. I have worked with some 3mm lenses that that have the same focal length, the aperture of the barrel was only 2mm wide and they collected all he light. I highly doubt they are blocking any light.:beer:

Thanks for the clarification dtr. But i am not sure if you are talking about the output side of the lens holder or the diode side. It is not the diode side that worries me. Here is a pic of what i mean. Comparing your lens holder vs the GB one:

I was talking about the input but goes the same for both sides. If the beam was wider than that at any point in the lens housing the divergence would be probably 50X or more worse than the P73 635nm diodes.:eek:

Just searched around and looks like the beam on a 445nm with a G-2 is about 2mm wide at the aperture so the hole at the very top would need to be smaller than that to affect anything.:beer:

Looks like that us, the European guys, are getting them lenses earlier:D, which was to be expected since they were shipped by Jim from Greece.

I can confirm all 5 lenses were received fine and seem to be in great shape. Although not tested yet, I want to share 1:1 magnification of this "GO-Like lens" in 4 positions. Gratitude once again for hosting this GB, jimdt7:beer:.

Though most of us will be receiving the lenses shortly, can you take a picture where it captures the color of the AR coating?

Well, this new GO-Like lens is a bit difficult to judge at first sight when it comes to AR coating. Compared to the 2 traditional lenses - 3-element with a beautiful blue-violet reflection and G2 I own with a reddish reflection - this new lens-kid on the block seems to have rather faint reflection. Hard to tell no matter what angle I choose whether under daylight (this morning as I type this) or yesterday under artificial light.
However a certain clue can be seen in the 1st pic I've posted: the reversed window image appears in darker blue. I can ensure you, it was pitch dark at that time outside.

What I'll do today, I'll take pictures of all three lenses with the reflection under outdoor daylight and indoor bulb light, perhaps at higher magnification (to focus on the lens area only) and see what results do I get. Will post later tonight (of my time:p).
