a "re-welcome".

Haha, thanks everyone. Yes, aspiring, I suppose :)

@AndrewB- And I noticed, the availability of 520s! That's nuts! But a good thing, too! I saw there was even an expensive 'blip' of 488 diodes, I think that's my next pursuit :P

@NKO29 - No problem good to meet you,
@ped - Congrats on your ascention :)
@Trevor, Wolfman29, 2007Revolution - Good to see YET MORE old name still active!
@ARG - Yes, Crazy seems to be the key word :)
@Leodashan - And yes, except for the usual and predictable pursuit of cyan and orange, I think I do need to look at expanding "downward" into the edgy, risky 300s.

Thanks so much for the greets and yes, trust me, pictures have been the #1 thing I've been hearing chatter about. As I told some folks snow in the mountains should make for some interesting shots :)

Thanks much everyone, and, onward!

Welcome back. You have the best collection of wavelength I ever seen. Very impressive ! :)

o_O Holy crud Welcome back. you haven't missed much. Just me failing to make a portable 488nm a few times with one of these broken protera's

Bloompyle: yeah that's where I'm aiming now - missed some good Coherent units on the 'bay, but am still hunting .

Lazerman121: 488 portables - I gotta check out your adventures on that.. Quite a noble goal there. May end up picking up another 488 too if you have surplus to sell as your sig may suggest :) but most of all, good to see that you're still around !

Wow, 488 portables must be amazing to own, still working on getting 405nm here haha.

HeCds aren't a terribly dead outlet. I have a possible hookup on the way, we won't know until the He pressure comes down a bit. If I recall, the mirrors in place are for 354nm. Though with proper mirrors, it will do the regular 325, and 442 as well. Unfortunately I need special mirrors for both, as the 442nm mirrors kill the the 325 otherwise.

Though this is your welcome thread, no need for me to clutter it with random info.

No no its fine, it's good info! I know back a long while back, Dave had a working HeCd system I was going to buy from him, but he was waiting for a power supply to be returned from some guy he lent it out to. That kinda faded out unfortunately.

I actually took a shot at a HeCd system doing 325. Apparently was working when it shipped. Unfortunately the guy packed it like a complete moron and I ended up with a rattling, jingling, clinking box full of "Nope." when the UPS guy came.

Welcome back:) Older dog here but learning and providing a few new tricks;)

No more kits unfortunately but I have a broken head Its has broken Main TEC.
I have a few crystal diode blocks that need alignment.
the way these things were original aligned was with 2 sheets of AR coated glass That were rotated to diffract the beam To adjust its XY trajectory.
Unfortunately those are glues down so tight They cant be re used. So I'm left with Loosening the Output coupler plate and wiggling it until i see cyan then trying to tighten it without loosing it and then the same with the plate holding the diode. :tinfoil:

then we have diode current xD remember within this

Really nice, +1. Turning the pots on these lasers, you don't have to be AS worried as some systems, since its a VCSEL, but still, with a rare beast like this you want to be as careful as you can be.
Well turns out turning the pot only swings the diode current 100mA or so These diode can go to 1 amp then they simply stop taking current Yes I have tried.

With these lasers sadly the higher the diode current Does not mean the higher the laser output. In-fact most that have seem to want somewhere between 450 to 630mA and they all have there sweet spot that they lase realy good at the frustrating thing is this sweet spot had to be withing + or - 2mA.

Then we have temperature without temperature stabilization you will be lucky to see more than a blip if cyan even at Its "sweet spot" :gun:

Anyway sorry for the thread-jack xD but now your caught up on the proteras
