G'day blokes,

Since the Aussie dollar is up atm, i ordered 2x of the HL63133DG's last week from Avnet and they arrived today, (in a rather large box for 2x 5.6mm diodes).

I will probably follow in rhd's footsteps and use a guidesman host.

I also ordered some 650-G-1 lenses from jayrob to use with this build,i wonder how well that will boost the output.

Will be using a microflex drive V5 set at *300mA* for the initial run in.

I haven't had time to start the build yet but will be attempting it on the weekend so watch this thread :)

Dont these diodes cost about $170 each?

Yep our $ is sinking faster then the titanic, I thik every currency is higher then the ours, I'll be waiting to see how you laser(s) come out.
 
I'm also looking forward to seeing what you do with these awesome laser diodes. I'll probably buy one of these fairly soon.
 
Has anybody experimented with cooling these laser diodes? When I get mine I'm gonna cool it with dry ice and see if I notice a difference in brightness. A spectrometer would be a nice tool to have on hand for that experiment.
 
I was hoping the extreme cold (-78ºC) would produce a noticeable wavelength shift. I've cooled some of my lasers with dry ice without any noticeable difference, but again I don't have a spectrometer.
 
I thought there were issues using the Flex drives with these diodes because they are case positive... I'm probably mistaken but I could have sworn I read that somewhere. I hope the diode does work fine with that driver because I have an extra FlexDrive that I was going to use for a red build but I wasn't sure if it would work because of the case positive thing.
