574nm 36 mW Yellow Laser

Mine has arrived from laserlandaustralia after some shipping delay.


I measured the output power and it's sitting around 40mw. It is a nice yellow color.

The Wavelength on my Spectrometer is 575.6nm but there is a second line about half the output power about 578nm.

I have added a Heat sink to the driver transistor.


I have added some pics. Like most of my lasers I keep them Lab Style to avoid possible law violation in Aus.

Speaking of dichro's, has anyone who has this nm tried to mix them with other colors? I have 2 of these units on the way to use in a lumia and other types of projector devices. I know the beams need not be combined on lumia, but I would like to try and combine colors inline as well, same as rgb combining. I also have a DTR 490nm to add to the mix. I already shot the 490 through one of my rgb lumia and it looks pretty nice. Just a thought.
 
Did I miss the answer or is it still unknown how these two yellow lasers operate?

Be interested in seeing these 575s combined with 490, should make an interesting shade of white.

From what Steve (LSRFAQ) said they're using a single crystal that acts as both the gain crystal and frequency doubler. Pump is somewhere up in the ~950nm region IIRC.
 
I'm still waiting for Steve to use the test equipment available to him to find the answer to this one. I am through with rank speculation as it went nowhere. I can't measure the IR on this one as my spectrometer doesn't go that high into IR.

BTW, congrats to Hakzaw1 for getting two of these lasers sent to him. I am also glad Alex is trying to get a new laser. It is tough being in this hobby with few to no lasers. Good for you, Alex.

People love to make public their research accomplishments and this is no exception. Somewhere on the interweb there has to be published information.
 
I would have thought so, too. What gets me is how very inexpensive these are for what you get. I paid more for shipping it to me than I did for the laser. A few months ago, this would have been laughable. But, there it sits on my bench and I fire it up several times everyday. I still think I am dreaming this as it is far too nice a laser for the money.
 
Nice review Paul. I think using a smartphone camera would be an easy way to customize the color of the pictures.

They talk of a 300-500mw version that's on the way, is this a more efficient crystal or a green/yellow diode I wonder. Whatever it is I'm sure there will be lots for sale next month or soon.

the 575nm modules are $30 + $35 DHL shipping.
See last patagrah of the OP where Paul says: "If you are interested in one of these, the email address for the company is: fb@optlaser.com. Shipping is by DHL Express and costs $35.00. But, I got my laser from mainland China in less than 4 days."

Reports are they will have 100mW and 200mW this week sometime---email them and ask.
 
Yes, emailing them is the best way I know to get one. They are worth much more than the $65.00 in total I paid for mine, IMO.

Also, good for you, Alex. I'm glad you ordered a new laser. :D
