Btw, I'm currently waiting in hospital to see my specialist for a post op checkup but my 565nm is waiting at the PO to be picked up.
If I get out of here on time, I'll pick it up on the way home.

Yes, emailing them is the best way I know to get one. They are worth much more than the $65.00 in total I paid for mine, IMO.

Also, good for you, Alex. I'm glad you ordered a new laser. :D

I emailed Freeman, answer I received is they do not have the higher power units available yet, but they are working on it. Didn't get the response I wanted, such as how much power, hoping he could say so and possibly throw in a price, but I didn't ask for price on those.
 
These are the exact laser laseraustralia sold me for 115.00.....

Anyone have trouble with the driver overheating. Mine incinerated. Fog is not a feature. Looks like lm317 driver.

Contact Paul from laserlandaustralia. I am certain he will replace the driver.

I am used to chinese engineering. I installed a heatsink on the driver before i even tried it. The IR diode in the 575's is supposed to be 2 watts. It's probably over the rating for the board. I did not have an over heating trip. Ran for maybe 5 mins.

Laserlandaustralia has told me any more he supplies will have a 5 amp driver.

That was pretty ballsy letting that transistor heat up that hot, Zach. I put heat sinks on the driver output and the IC right by the fan output using Arctic Alumina adhesive after running mine for a few seconds after receiving it. It is a different driver than the ones coming from Australia, but it seems these laser heads are pushing the drivers pretty hard. For anyone interested I also gave a link to the heat sinks in one of the posts in this thread.

I have been in contact with Freeman too. He will contact me as soon as the new higher power lasers are finished and ready for sale. I didn't push on the details either.

It goes into thermal shutdown, I've done this before, just not recorded. It'll go from 300F to 250F then turn back on and repeat. Video was from before kecked's blew
 
Where did kecked's laser come from? I don't remember if he bought from OPTlasers or the Australian seller. I noticed the heat problems immediately and took steps to safeguard my driver. I have run my laser for 10 minutes straight, as posted in the OP, since heat sinking these parts.

I went back and looked at Mosc007's driver for his 575nm laser. It is identical to the one I received from OPTlaser. He heat sinked the output transisor, but didn't heat sink the IC right next to it and at the fan's output connector. That IC runs hot too. It is odd that his spectrometer shows a wider band than I have been seeing with mine. Don't know if it is the laser or the spectrometer.

I guess I could split the fan going out from this and give the driver its own. The head sure gets more fanpower than it needs
 
Decrease input voltage until the drive current drops out of regulation. I don't care if they're rated 12V, there's no need for 12V when the load is 1.5V. All drivers and regulators are more efficient when input is closer to output.

And if you're going to add air flow, add a separate fan for the driver running off of the DC input. :beer:
