574nm 36 mW Yellow Laser

Was it necessary to contact Freeman to get the price you are quoting, Nexgen? I have been in contact with him by email many times and he assured me he would contact me when the higher power units were available. I guess I will have to email him again to get this information first hand. :undecided:

I think he may be getting quite a lot of emails from us asking the same few questions.
I'd suggest that we continue to post his responses here so that we don't all have to flood him with the same message.

I'm getting kind of anxious waiting too. I hope the wait is worth it.

Paul, Since freeman hasn't even gotten the low power versions in yet I wouldn't think he has the higher power yet.

Nexgen, did freeman give any indication of when he would have the higher power version?

Since they hadn't offered a 50 mW version before, I assumed this was a higher power version. Though what I was mainly looking for is a 100+ mW version.

Not sure, but I’ve asked him if he have any yellow no matter what power. He offered me 50mw ones. I will ask about higher power units and stock itself.

He doesn’t even answer back anymore. He must be swamped. To bad he won’t just come here and do a thread. Would be easier for all parties.

Yeah, it would, but I doubt he is going to post here. I have not emailed him since he shipped my drivers out. Don't want to seem like a pest. Once these are back in stock, I believe he will contact me again.

:crackup:If it was any easier than sending an email to a manufacturer it would bite you.

Would guess there are several business reasons he woud not post here among them:

It is a violations of the rules and Terms of Use of LPF for a business to post on LPF marketing their products and promoting their business unless they are a paid advertiser.

Why would any manufacturer bother to pay to be an advertiser and post for a couple of onesie & twosie sales to laser hobbyist/enthusiasts --is not going to set the world on fire either way, sales or no sales to LPF members.
How important to a manufacturer is maybe a dozen $30 units total sold directly to an extreme niche cadre on LPF all requiring the individual paper work mess to do that only to make like maybe $10 or $15 each when the manufacturer is looking for multiples of one thousand pieces for worthwhile doing orders?

Is bad enough the level of sales to LPF people --why compound whatever there is in it for the company to a big fat nothing in it by wasting valuable time posting to LPF.

If people are too lazy and/or not interested enough for to email and order, why should OPT have any greater interest or even care at all?

I did mine very swiftly over email + pp.
I'm still waiting since he said the batch was scheduled for finishing on the 3rd June.

I ordered express so he's probably swamped with handling order ordering from all you people! SHAME!

You're one of those people :p

Everybody does. Considering how long Sanwu takes to fill an order, it seems OPT Lasers is in good company here. I can wait until they are available again.

Yes OPT is a "good" at what they do company/manufacturer --- up and running successfully since 2007, has 100+ employees, and $10+ million in sales/year.
OPT's main products are laser show systems, laser projectors, laser modules, stage equipment, and garden lights

As of today OPT reports:
"...now we meet a hard issue that the special crystal for this DPSSL is quite hard to get it stabilized when set in front of the invisible light...
About a month ago, we've shipped all the few available units for some customers."

Sounds they sold all the product samples they had available combined with a typical beyond the manufacturers control gambit of being subject to the vicissitudes of parts suppliers--always being subject to whatever problems component suppliers have.
In this case maybe crystal supplier quality controls are a problem.

So everyone has cool their jets and be patient while they sort the problem and make a new batch of module samples.

Could be a new batch of crystals is off---could be a new batch of IR diodes is off----could be both.

575nm is a tricky process w. very low efficiency output ---everything has to be just right to make it possible to implement a reliable, stable, consistent, reproducible, low cost mass production of modules.

Appears OPT is working on it, so....

I wonder what the IR leakage from these modules is as they do not seem to have any IR filter?

That sounds about right, Encap; I hope you're correct, the last I've heard from Freeman was on June 9th.
I hope those weren't the last we're going to see of these 565 & 575nm lasers.

Well, I'm so glad I got a really nice example of the pure yellow laser. I am certainly interested in getting some more of these. I would like to get a 565nm one too. But, if for reasons beyond their control they become unavailable, I will count my blessings to have gotten the one I have at such a low price.
