I'm suspecting more praseodymium doped solid states atm. These need corrective optics as you can see the focusing lens.
From nexgen's images, it still looks like a dpss tallying up with what the supplier states the laser is. The only difference being, there is no doubling crystal.

However, in my limited understanding from reading. Vcsels are low cost. The beam is TEMoo low diverging requiring only one lens to collimate. Operating voltage is low too.

I'm not ruling it out completely. It is a possibility. Just can't be too sure yet. I have found some info out too that could be in favour. Just need the pump diode wavelength and power confirmed.

The fact that there is simply a c mount diode, focusing lens and crystal. Not an advanced setup. Not much more difficult than a typical green laser pointer. Except no glued doubling crystal.

I'm thinking this may be directly doubled. So, just a doubling crystal maybe?

I’m thinking no doubling at all. If correct I believe that 575nm is a transition line. A bit like just having a yvo4 crystal but producing lines in the visible spectrum. Praseodymium doped crystals are tuneable in the visible spectrum which is what I’m suspecting.

I measured 976nm as the pump diode There is a second weaker line as well and some background crude out beyond 1100nm.

As I have said before, that is a tiny crystal and trying to actively cool it would not be very easy to do. I would be careful in trying to pump it with much greater pump power as it could easily fail on you, Chris. I would take baby steps in trying to increase the optical output power on such a crystal. :yh:
