510nm / Brass/ Aluminum Pen

Hi L Chick,
Why thank you for noticing the host, I had it laying around foursome time now. Well i'm glad i holdout building on it. I thought so to, it can together nicely. And the color WL was made for it. thank you for your comment always a pleasure. All the setup and diode is from Lazeerer he's the master of WL and drivers. Won't use anything else but his drivers.

Rich:)

Lazeerer is great. Hiemal is good too. He had a lot of promise but his driver designs just didn't take off. I don't know what happened...

Hi Vis,
Yes that's what i heard to. The X Boosts,X Drives and the SXD's are awesome drivers . I don't use any others. i have a few adjustable 16.8's from wolfman but haven't tried them yet. I'm going to start on my Mag light modification today prepping the host for the NUB44 i have. Undecided for 4.5A or 5A setting. Thanks for checking out my stuff Pal

Rich:)

I've heard of wolfman but never seen his posts... is he still around?
I'd stick with the 4.5 amp setting personally. On DTRs test his diodes output was ~6.8watts which is a ton of power.
Have fun with your build.

Hi,
Just to update i didn't mention that this is not the NDG4216 which some have mentioned. And it's not a binned PL520 either these last around 518nm so don't think that these diodes will do 510nm they won't at a lower mA. Just wanted to clarify so there's no confusion with all who like to do this build. My apology for not stating this earlier in the thread.

Rich:)

Don't forget, 6.8 watts is where his meter maxes out, so it was likely even more than that

What diode is it, then?

Hi,
Contact him with the details of your ? I'm sure he can help better than i..

Rich:)

@ Gabe ok then i'll take it to4.5A 0r even 4.8Amax thank you my friend for the info much needed.
Rich:)

2 Vis,
Yes the data is correct It is not the 2 diode you guys mentioned it's a different diode all together. Not many around that i know about. I say get them while you can. Exotics are awesome plus it's a single mode..

Rich:)

Very nice! That host looks good.
I love the 510nm/515nm wavelength, different enough from 532nm but not obscenely expensive :D.

The diode sounds like the 515nm 30mW to me (Osram pl515 30mw I think?). I don't know of any "limited edition" new 515nm diodes :)

Hi Matt,
No it's not the PL515 Osram It's all together a different diode. This 510nm runs at 30+mW for the WL shift. Look at the graphs i posted it's not the PL515nm diode. 510nm is closer to cyan than 515 to 518nm starts falling to the green side of 515,518nm.. There is a difference.. Thank you for your reply always welcome ..

Rich:)

Those graphs don't prove it's not a PL515. Those have been known to do 511-512nm every now and then, it could be a binned diode.

If it isn't then please tell us which diode it is.

Hi Atom,
Well what else can i tell you You know who i purchased it from. And he is a very respected merchant here on LPF. This is the information i received If you think it's a PL515 then i can't change your mind sorry about that.

Rich:)

Here's a couple pics to try and show the difference between a 515 and a blue shifted one although it's better in person:

bgBFje.jpg

These are 100mW 515nm and 110mW <515nm from the 30mW 515nm GB. I somehow got a freak that stayed blue shifted regardless of output. My guess is its likely around the 510nm just because it's so different from my other 515 lasers but of course it's only a guess. Look at the reflections for a better idea. For some reason my older cameras can do a pretty good job picking up the difference between most wavelengths.

Still can't REP you yet:(

Hi,Pman,
yes some cameras do have a better pickup on a WL your correct. The 2 you show in the pics are different the shift is awesome i love it . That 515 just might be a freak diode hey but thats always a treat you know. That really only happens is the diodes aren't binned and they get buy. If they were binned well you know there kept in aa locked box so to speak. Great pics buy the way P.. Thanks for sharing the shift in your 2 diodes that's awesome buddy..

Rich:)

Nice laser but that host is sweet, I bet it feels good in the hand.
