505nm and 480nm diode RESULTS

I'm finding those comments about cyan kinda strange. Still haven't got my 480nm diode but I finished my pushed NDB7675 build and "spectro'd" it at 476nm (not exact by any means, but in the ballpark). While the dot is still blue everyone I asked agrees the beam has a clear greenish tint. It looks nothing like this. Varying the current makes it go from sky-blue to the greenish tone. No cyan inbetween.

How about vs the 490nm line from your IR pointer?

Comparing the 480nm to the 472nm I have is like night and day difference in color, but both are still undoubtedly blue. Same for 488nm - it's certainly blue. The 495nm I have coming in is my only guess at what people are saying cyan is, and my money is on it being 'questionably green'.

Actually, the 495 vs the 473 ends up looking very green.

I would guess teal-green would accurately describe the color at 495nm.
 
Hi ZRaffleticket i also got a osram plt5 488 diode i am running it at 148ma with a micro flexdrive v5 the colour is so nice and its very bright.

The 490nm line is too weak for visual comparison. But thanks for remembering me about it, will spectro it when I get some free time!

I didn't know the micro flex could supply the Vf it needs, datasheet suggests ~7.5V at 110mA, and the micro flex says it only supplies 5.5V... any pics of it running?
 
you don't have a phone camera but can afford a $900 diode!


You sent me pm asking what the 473 diode looks like but have a 488!

I am not in to smart phones i just got a cheap one to make calls with no camera.

Cyan is greenish blue not sure what you mean, my 7675 pushed to 2.8a changes colour in front of your eyes when turning the adj pot, But that is high power, this 473 diode is low power and does have a little lime-green in the blue, 488 definitely has lime-green in it!
 
I know that when I compare my 477nm 127 mW build with a 445nm 560 mW build the two spots look equal in brightness, but the 477nm looks a bit green next to the 445nm. If I just look at the 477nm, it looks blue. It's the comparison that makes it seem a bit greener.

Well, it's hard to explain. The color I get on the computer when mixing blue and green isn't even remotely similar to the color of that diode at 2.8A. The computer color looks almost white, not greenish.

Always go back to the monitor color reproduction triangles.

sRGB isn't even standard.

I've got a cheap cell phone too. It does have a camera on it and can log online, but is far from a smart phone. It just seemed like a waste of money since I have two laptops and a tablet. I certainly would never think of watching TV on a phone as many people seem to do now. If you can't wait until you get home to watch TV you need to find something new to occupy your time.
 
As I've noted before. If you guys own a 515 or 520 laser, you own a Cyan laser :)
