505nm and 480nm diode RESULTS

I've been comparing my 477nm build to a 445nm one that is close to 5X the power. The beams and dots are equally visible, but the 477nm has more green in it. By comparison it is like a teal/blue color. I wonder how the 502nm diode I have from the same batch will look compared to a 520nm. I'm sure it will look more blue than the 520nm.

IIRC, Zach. Those green diodes you had were more along the lines of 508nm. I got one from Rich at the same time and it was 502nm.

I bought some pre-specced at 502nm and 502.74nm from a separate order :)

I'm very glad to hear that. I felt so badly when they were all measuring so much higher than they were claimed to be. I think the 502nm and 503nm will look better than basically a 510nm.

I mean I'll still keep the 510, may as well if I'm going to collect wavelengths. But I'm glad to get the 502. It's a fantastic shade of green.

And for the 495 - straight to me. I'll send it to paul along with some other stuff pre-built someday. I'll want the 472, 488, 495, and a 1W sanwu 405 measured whenever I get around to buy one, and get the rest built. Or if there's someone in PA around route 81 with a spectrometer speak up :)

Well, I'm always here for you, Zach. I'll measure the spectrum of any diode or build you have, buddy. Looking forward to seeing that 495nm built. That is going to be a strange color IF it measures 495nm and not some WL above it. I doubt you'd complain if it measures low.

I can't speak for 495nm but 492nm is gorgeous.
In May when I was in California I went to CLEO and I saw a 488 and 492nm laser side by side. When I first saw it I pointed out one and said that's 488nm I then asked what wavelength the other one was and the lady at the booth laughed and said that's 488nm the one I had pointed out was 492nm. The 492nm was more cyan and made the 488nm look too blue xD.

The first time I saw 488nm I was a little disappointed because it was too blue for my expectations, it's still cyan but not as seen in the pictures.

Not sure is call 502nm cyan... Though if the 495 is in fact 495, it will lie directly in the middle of 488 and 502... now that would be cyan.

Also did CNI get any measurement yet on yours dr laser?

And paul - good to hear that. Someday you'll see a bulk shipment of stuff headed your way. I'm working out details on getting the 487 built now. It's mostly figured out. Just gonna be a slightly tough build since the diode isnt case neutral. 495 I'll just use another nano at 275mA for. Odds are it'll take it just fine.

Just a straight up "corny" thanks and kudos that iv'e wanted to say for a while to
Paul, ZRaffle, Dr. Laser, DTR, CynicalB and who ever I might have missed for putting the time to test and compare these nice new diode's.
You all fed of each other and saved a ton of headaches for others with showing us the limits and dislikes:):beer:
I've skimmed other forums and just not the same..Members who won't share their secret's and and talk about greed and scams.
Great stuff guy's:o

Working with world ☆ is starting to become too big a hassle since they don't take PP or discover.... so, bought one of existotem's PLT5-488's instead. Saves me money in the longrun anyway.

@GSS - You're welcome for all the info, and thanks for the compliments. I can definitely say the same about the guys I've dealt with involving these diodes. From all of the other forums I've ever taken a part in, this one is definitely the most tight-knit - I've never personally had a bad experience with a member here, and I hope it stays that way.

With me getting a new job, and with diodes at 480nm being readily available... I figured why not put them through some slice of hell to see what they'll take. For both myself and everyone else who could get one. I wasn't capable of testing them myself, but we have the community that can handle it. It's neat to think that some of these were going from china to the eastern US, to the western US, back to the eastern US, then down to australia and south america and a bunch of other places.
