505nm and 480nm diode RESULTS

So here is what I know Zach has been waiting for. The 505nm just isn't. I pressed it too and at 60 mA it is 508.0 and at 200 mA it is 509.9nm. I am sure that these are 510nm diodes that they either sent by mistake or on purpose for who knows what reason.

Now for the good news. the next "480nm" I pressed and tested at 60 mA is 475.9 and at 200 mA is 480.0. Yep! it made it to 480nm. the next one at 60 mA is 475.2nm and at 200 mA is 477.0nm.

I have two left to test that will be left bare. I gotta say that doing all these diodes was a lot of work. I'm pretty happy to be almost finished.

That makes sense, All these in Existotems pictures are 510 diodes

He only has 8 listed so he hasn't even added a picture of them!

If Jordan can confirm the colour difference in the window reflection at least we will know what diode is what!

I don't think so, Alex. The three i got from Zach definitely are, but the one sent to me by Lifetime17 seems to be an actual 505nm diode.

I hope so too, Alex. Anytime you want me to take a spectrometer reading of anything you have I can give you my address and you can send it me and I'll do that for you. Otherwise, with 505nm and 510nm being so close, there may not be another accurate way of knowing for sure.

Can you see a difference in the diode window coating between the two Paul!

hap - DTR's is from the same batch my 505's are from... don't mean to be a debbie downer but chances are it's gonna be in the same boat as mine... Sad to see all the 505's aren't. Same with the 480s...

However, with the one you did get up to 480... that is excellent. That'll be the one I'm working with in my own build. When you send these back, how will you have them distinguished from one another?

So it may be closer to 510nm then huh? If it is that's okay. I'll still write it as 505 in my signature. Im really just looking for a color difference between it and the 515nm pointer I'm getting is all :)

That would be my guess. The batch could also be mixed. After all, DTR did get a freak 500nm out of it.

First of all, I don't know what to look for in the diode window. If it is something while the diode is lasing, forget it. Zach, I have some 1 by 2 inch stickers that I will write all the information of each diode in its module, or the bare diode itself. Should be able to get this all done by tomorrow, so I'll see if I or my daughter can take the package to the post office and send them all back to you. I have your address from the one you sent to me. I expect you'll want them to go back priority mail. Probably will cost about $9.00 or $10.00. You can PM me if there are other details you need to tell me.

Also, the three diodes you sent me are 510nm. The one Lifetime17 sent me is 505nm. I can't say why it happened like that, but it is something I would take up with the people you bought them from. That freak diode DTR got was from a diode some time ago and not from this batch. I'm pretty sure that spectrometer is the one laseerer has.

But yours and Mine are from the same batch and Mine were 505nm ? It may just be hit or miss.

I really don't think so. The three I got from ZRaffleticket are definitely 510nm diodes, while the one I got from Lifetime17 was 501.8nm at low current and 502.8nm at high current. They are just too far apart to be the same diode. Of the ten 480nm diodes I tested the difference between the highest and lowest was 4nm.

@lazerman But you got your 505's from batch 1.. right? Mine are from batch 2. They could have changed the production process somewhere along the line and bumped up the wavelength a little high.

Found the problem! The real 505nm have SB1497N91 micro-printed around the window of the diode. The three from ZRaffleticket are SB147EC19. Similar, but not the same. The one I got from Lifetime17 has the correct number on it. Thanks for pointing that out to me Laserman121. I'd have never looked and seen the numbers across the diode.

Well if you noticed small writing on the can, can you see if the coating on the can window is same on both, not while lasing, a bit of light reflection on the can windows should show a goldish tint or like Lazerman said a reddish amber tint!

Never mind Paul just trying to help!
