My Sharp 490nm modules arrived today and I was eager to see this new diode color..
This build was supposed to be my first 22mm MechMod build, but I had to realise that DTR 22mm heatsink didn't come with 510 connector..

I just couldn't wait three weeks for 510 connector to come and I had use parts that I had laying around.
Just that bad I wanted to see it's color. I've gotta say that I'm really happy with this new Sharp diode!!

It doesn't bother me that I didn't get the 510 connector, now I have same size host than my others and I think heatsink is so overkill for this diode,
that it has unlimited duty cycle.. :p

Good looking "turbine" build, AD!
Nice beam shots of a great looking wavelength; the last pic really shows off the color nicely.
Sending some rep asap. :yh:

Nice work ArcticDude, good photos.
The unusual wavelength, host and finned heatsink look great.

Woah that’s a great heatsink for that small diode. Great build!

Where did you get the host, or did you make it yourself?

Edit: I’ll rep you when I can

Hey, Arcticdude....wild, really wild.
Two Questions.
1) What is the host?
2) Where did you get the heat sinck?

As I said I had to use parts that which were laying around..
Host is combined from different parts, I think head is from UltraFire UF - D08 >>
Can't remember where I got battery tube and tail cap..

Inner heatsink is lathed and radial "Turbine" Al Heatsink is from here>>

Anodization is stripped off with Sodium hydroxide, I recommend to be very careful with that stuff..

Very impressive host for this diode, Tero. When I saw the fins in the first photo, I was sure they would be outside the host. Does air get into that space where you ended up placing them? I do love that color. Can't tell by your photos, but is there any green in the light? If it is just light blue, it is likely 488nm or lower. The green doesn't really seem to be very noticeable until it is 491nm or higher, though. What current did you set it at? oh, and what lens did you use? Just love it.

I can't rep you yet, but I owe you.

Heck ya, dude!
Richie mentioned your work bench...that "3rd arm" is very neat. Those helping hands probably wouldn't be much help with that sink, lol. Do tell: what was your current/lens choice?
Thanks for sharing, appreciate the beam shots!!! Look forward to seeing it in the Enchanted Beams thread!!

Oh man !!
Just saw this.
How cool is this build?
Love those fins and great looking build Tero.
Of course I expect nothing less from you.
Love your work area too.

Awesome mate, looking forward to more.

Certainly looks like a beauty of a build. That’s one great looking host ArcticDude. :gj:
