Re: So are the glasses shipping with the Wicked Arctic effective?

so what does a safety goggle actually do? change wavelength or dissipate amplitude or both?

Seems they must be reflective in most applications . . .

At the bottom of your post, you will find a button labeled "edit." You can use that button to add to your post. You do not have to post a second time. Just edit the existing post

If you wish to reply to multiple posts at once, you can use the "multiquote" button on all but the last post to quote. All of them will show up in your post. You can reply to them individually

Re: Goggles for 445nm

To make it clear, I still would get certified goggles (especially now that they come with the laser at 30$), I still want to know if I can give this ones to a possible spectator, etc.

It's just hard to believe that a goggles that I've tested myself to hold 200mW for 1 minute without loss of protection can't hold 1W for more than a second, which is enough for what I want them :)

445 Glasses Question

So i "may" buy the artic in a few weeks or even possibly make my own 445.

The question i have to ask is.
I have a pair of glasses from Wicked lasers and they are the 99$ ones from noir.
Should i trust these glasses?

They are these: http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/3299/20100507215638.jpg
These are certifiied from noir themselves and are within the OD5+ range of the 445 wavelength. I have all of the paperwork aswell just have to find it, or should i email them bout this to verify that these will work.

I would rather not buy another pair if i dont have to.

P.S. These glasses make 405 @ 532 look less than my 5mw and my 5 mw is invisible.

Thanks,
Jeff

Re: 445 Glasses Question

There isn't a surefire way to trust them, other than having them tested on a lpm. Unless someone else has these same ones and have tested them already to confirm their OD rating.

Re: 445 Glasses Question

If you order the arctic you get a free pair with your laser.

They make WLs glasses. They should be able to tell you...unless WL has sworn them to secrecy? lol

Re: So are the glasses shipping with the Wicked Arctic effective?

Unless they are shipping out a pair that are not listed on their website I would assume an OD of < 3 @ 445nm judging from this link: Green 532nm LaserShields Goggles

Even though its for 532nm, it's the best i can find.

Though Noir Laser does offer shades that have an OD of 5+ @ 445nm.
