Agreed!

For that matter, i'm surprised laser 66 doesn't offer some way of making these more easily utilized in traditional M9x0.5 housings.

Errmmm
Because he doesn't make any profit off of the AixiZ housing ;)

But he makes profit (presumably) off the lenses, and if they were easier to actually utilize, he'd sell so many more.

Plus, he could make money off whatever housing solution he provided for these lenses.

Thanks for posting the picture DTR!

I think you need a spacer since the original lens was three element and this one is just two. I think Jay flips the lens too, I'm not really sure why.

I flip it because I wanted to make sure that the lens gets centered perfectly...

And also, notice that I enlarge the entry aperture to the lens. (from the diode side)

The lens can fit into the bottom of the lens nut, and if your very careful, you can get it centered. (although it is a loose fit, and can easily get off center)

But the I.D. of the tiny threaded retaining ring, cannot get enlarged to allow more light from the diode into the lens. (so I flip it, and let the retaining ring be on the beam end) Then I can enlarge the other end...

Those are the reasons that I go through all that pain to flip the lens nut, and make a spacer/retainer to mount them...

@ Jay...
I thought it helped with getting the lens close to the bottom of the Aixiz housing as well. Hey, I have never actually had an A housing, so really I don't know. It's popular , that's for sure.

@ everyone...
Yes, just the glass here. I do have the 10.5mm houisngs including lens. Not shown as an individual line item or sku, so one would need to say they want a G-1 lens vs. G-2. I will offer it in 12 mm too. FYI my current housings have an odd 8.5mm thread- a bad touch designed into our units about 2 years ago by my Taiwan machining group. We are shifting away from that odd thread. Soon we will be back to our M9 X0.5 like our other lens assemblies. Many do the mods, or custom work on their own, as we sell a lot of lenses. I have some G-1's just sitting around and I know here on LPF it is preferred over the G-2. This is the reason for the thread. It's so the lens alone can be had. For those who don't have the time, skills or machine, Jay's option is a great drop- in, as time has shown.

if u put it in a housing how much would the price be same as jayrobs?
