got some more 16340s so I can actually run both my big lasers now. Also had a decent camera on hand again this weekend so decided to make the most of it.
I've had photography as a hobby for a while but laser photography is still throwing me a bit - I hope these are an improvement on my last sets.
The low powered pens warm up first... (405 -- 532 -- 650)
Then on go the death rays
From the back...
And from the front...
Top down
The 405 lighting up some tonic water
refracting and reflecting...
And through some glasses.
And finally a 15 second video of the lasers running with me focus pulling from the farthest beam to the nearest, and back again:
Nice shots trencheel, love the 2nd and the 3rd from the last pics showing the refracting 405nm beam in the tonic water!
That color in the water looks damn near like 473nm on my monitor.
Question - where did you get that little silver tripod that the 405 is on?
Thank you. The tripod came with my laserbtb 650 as an added extra when you order them. You can perhaps buy them elsewhere as Tha Greenlander recently bought some for his Laserglow pens.
Hi Trencheel303.
Some nice pics! I really like the 405nm and tonic water ones. It is always fun to "light" up things using a 405nm. Just keep on shooting and you will figure out ways to get better pics with each shot.
You can buy those little silver tripods from fasttech.com but i don't recommend them. For 3 dollars though it is not bad at all.
Nice pics! I love the ones with the refraction in water. And I agree laser photography is not easy, I have been experimenting a bunch and sometimes I get cool shots, sometimes not haha. I am very glad my camera is digital. I couldn't handle film with the number of shots I take.
Although I love film I'll be avoiding it for laser photography. The colour casts that are part of film's natural character cause the laser colours to be quite badly misrepresented. On one I did recently, my HL532 looked yellow and the 405 looked like 450. That's a wavelength shift of around 50nm on both counts, so a "cooler" film might've been better. This is one area in which digital's "clinically clean" output excels.
Thanks trencheel303, and wannaburnstuff for the tripod information; it's hard to tell their quality from the pics, they just looked like a good fit for a "pen" style laser.
They're alright for keeping the laser in one place, and the screw to hold it in is also good for keeping the power on. Not very versatile other than that though and a bit clunky.
From memory - ISO 6400, f/2.2, 1/60s. Handheld because I have quite a small area to work in and I have to contort into all sorts of weird and wonderful positions. Tripoding it would have been much better.

I noticed the same thing so I just tried a 520nm and a 445nm through some tonic water and the green is still green but the blue changes color in the tonic water to about the same as the photo.
Great photos trencheel. Is there any Gin mixed in or is it just tonic water?
Yep hair clips. I've been known to improvise quite considerably on this... I've had the lasers resting on a slipper before. If I ever get round to buying a 593.5 (probably from laserglow as CNI just quoted me the most unbelievable ripoff price for shipping) then I'll be buying a proper tripod at least for it.
