3watt RGB build

no

according to laserwave their modules do not need a heat sink. laserwave module are massive as thy have tec and big heat sinks.

i do know what im doing when it comes to building a scanner

The heat from the laser diodes is drawn to the fins inside the head via TEC. The heat is drawn away from the fins with a fan. The air inside the projector heats up. Where does the heat go from there?

ah geee....

ive build a number of scanners now ok.

heat wont be an issue trust me

I would just listen to him cyparagon . they are small fans , but he wont need to move much air to keep it cool enough to run the components in there. plus they are all bolted onto plate aluminium that's 6mm thick ( amirite ? )  .

EDIT; andy, could you return my PM please ? ;D

the green and blues have two fans built into the head. the reds have one fan each.

each psu has two fans build in as well.

big fans are just over kill and not needed.

my 1watt rgb has lasever modules in it and they need fans.

i dont have any fans on the heads only by the psu and again no heat issues

STOP!!! There may be a patent on bouncing lazors off of mirriors!!

ROFL!!!!

JK'ng ;D

A large component of equipment lifespan is operating temperature - a few degrees warmer of operation can reduce lifetime by over 10%, since it seems most of the equipment inside the box is air cooled, a few low speed 80mm fans would do a good job of providing a decent amount of low noise airflow. 40mm fans are just plain nasty in most cases besides those where space is limited. For 40mm fans to push any respectable airflow they need to run at several thousand RPM. (I hate fan noise which is why I brought this up)

oh dear someone is being a twat!! let me find the patent for you

trust me 80mm fans are way to much.

lasers do not need to be cold but warm. a cold laser will not operate very well.

im not creating a wind tunnel here but a laser scanner

OMG --- I've combined lasers with mirrors too.

Crap - Now I have to tell my wife that I'm a "twat" :( Her reply may not be able to be published here ;D

Isnt 'twat' the colour of your blanky? :-?

Very strange, the  approach one must take to get a straight answer out of you ::) Please do share this mystical patent you speak of.

so i PM you simple saying to be careful as there is a patent on what your building. i didnt PM you for fun or to be rude, but simply to let you know.

you now post stupid little remarks in my thread, referencing to "blanky"!!!

as promised here are the details of the patent -

http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3083&highlight=patent&page=4

so in future rather than posting stupid remarks and trying to be the big man, trying to make me look silly, take advice from peolpe with more knowledge than you.

now who has the last laugh?!

I'm just pointing out your contradiction:

[quote author=andy_con link=1228068019/0#14 date=1230376706]theres no need for big noisy fans as i have a bug alum heat sink

contradiction?!

how is that a contradiction? as stated, " theres no need for big noisy fans as i have a big alum heat sink"

laserwave themself say " their modules do not need heat sinks"

laserwave state their modules do not need heat sinks, not me. i have a big alum base which will act as a heat sink if need be.

LOL, you told me to erase my thread, and STOP what I was doing..LOL, over a European patent, which by the way has been posted in public domain since 2005. You gave me no links, just a DONT DO IT. And funny enough, you make no mention of this elsewhere, here or on PL.

Then you get offended by the blanky comment? yet throw insults like a child "twat". so take it as you may, you are a joke in my eyes.

" more knowledge than you" doubt that jr....

like i said a friend did a similar thing and got in trouble with patent legal people, by simply posting pics of it on the web.

do as you please and i wish you well.

IIRC... a European patent is difficult to enforce outside of Europe..

I understand that an International Patent would cover Canada and the USA and
the rest of the world... but not a simple European Patent...

As for your friend getting "in trouble with patent legal people, by simply posting
pics".. is difficult to fathom... unless the pics were copyrighted..or trademarked...
and then it would have nothing to do with patent law but copyright/Trademark law...

Even a patent can be posted.... once the patent is given... it becomes accessible
to all.... and any one can copy the patent for their own use/test... as long as it is
not done for Profit or Resale during the time the (time limited) Patent is active. 8-)

I may be wrong.... ::)
