2W 445 in a Z5 Host

Well the part that'll house the laser looks much larger. Ya can't wait till it gets here.

The only issue is that lenses that we use aixiz, 3 element, G1/G2
all only need to move like a tenth of an inch
to go from far focus to close focus,

Where as this thing moves like an inch or 2 to adjust focus
You would probably need a custom lens of some sort.

Unless you dont mind only having a small area to move to focus it.

Good point, maybe there would be a way to restrict the movement to the proper range. Like you said, it is a pretty good flashlight but it needs a reflector badly. The other one I posted is better in my opinion.

That's because you're selling it for WAY overpriced. Parts for this laser is probably around $175 - host is $45, diode ~$55, lens $55, $10-$20 for raw materials of heatsinks, focus rings, etc. Expect to get $275 out of it max and it'll sell.... Especially because you're not a huge reputable seller here, you shouldn't expect such a large margin.

Well not everyone wants sell their 445 lasers at cost like you

+ You’re a bit off, didn’t include driver/batteries/copper aixiz
And unfortunately I don’t have a the ability to turn "raw material" into heatsinks and focus rings either

But as I recall you have a similar build that should be about ready to sell, so feel free to give me some friendly competition. :)

I am not sayng you should sell at cost. But you're looking for more than 100% markup which is just ridiculous.

You're right, I didn't include drivers, etc. So let's put that at $200 material value. Still, you're looking at a max of about $300. 50% markup is reasonable here, anything more is getting greedy.

Also, just because you paid for someone to make something for you on a lathe, doesn't mean you should get to add markup to the markup already added.

Feel free to sell it at what you want, but you probably won't get any bites ;)

Anyway, I decided not to even try to sell mine because it's my favorite laser I have built XD I love this thing, and I don't think I would be able to accurately reproduce the methods I used to make this heatsink fit just right, so I wouldn't want to get rid of one of the only ones I have. Maybe some time in the future when I get a new favorite 445nm I will though.

I love this price competition, keep it coming! :fightin:

Wolfy is a talented builder and his 1W pens are respectable work. The pens are hands down best 1W deal on the internet. <-- this is amazing

That being said, a $400 2W shouldn't be too hard to sell as well. There are a number of people with deep pockets that don't want to build their own lasers and will shell out cash for pre-built or people to build lasers for them.

Perhaps its just bad economic times or not payday yet

Best of luck with the sale anyway,
Ryan

$400 is a bit steep, even for 2W though. If I remember correctly, rhd's 2.7Wer sold for something like $350? All I know is that the only person who I have ever seen sell a build for >=$400 was Angelos. And he includes goggles, etc.

And wannaburn. But he makes the nicest hosts and the craziest builds, like his dual diode 3.5W :wtf: was amazing

I agree with Wolfman here, he's actually wanting to give you a friendly competition but he's giving you a heads up first, thats not half bad for a friendly gesture!
I hope this sells at that price infact it is a very nicely built and stable build..

And One thing i would like to mention is the unnecessary disclosure of cost of parts.. It's just like busting someones balls when you speak of parts cost in someones sales thread, He can sell it at whatever he wants since it is an open forum but once a potential buyer reads that kind of stuff it will not only de-rail the sales thread but also reduce the value of work that the person/seller has put into his build.. If you consider the time and money thats been put to one build any profit margin is fair!! It's not like someones getting rich with THAT kind of money!! C'mon be mature!
